Meet Tom Konkle

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tom Konkle . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tom below.

Tom , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
This is being dictated from voice to text just so I could sort of get the idea down.

Where did I get my resilience from? It’s been an evolving process one of the things that I think has made me resilient is the realization that it is not the achievement of the goal that’s the only thing that can make me happy. For me, it is that the process of working towards the goal the act of finding a way to create something or to problem, solve that makes the resilience more likely to happen.. I can find the stubborn resolve to get a group together and have them all working towards something even with setbacks when that becomes a point of enjoyment. You can find the strength to get back up or roll with some very real setbacks when the energy around them doesn’t define you. Understanding how I feed my reserves lets me bounce back much more easily for the most part I am enjoying the process itself instead of the result.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I started a production company that I am the CEO of called Lumen Actus Productions, Inc. in Burbsnk, CA many years ago. My partners and I started with the idea of creating stories that myself and others would enjoy be they genre films, online videos ,or genre audio fiction, whatever the medium, I wanted to create an environment where we made enough money to be able to do the next thing, and we work with people that you really respect. At the moment I’ve been developing a feature film that will be shot in Australia, called Island in the Stars, I am a published author with a book Red Skies, I have several feature film, scripts optioned, or in development, have a audio fiction company called Mindstream Radio Reborn which creates wonderful, comedy, mystery, adventure, audio fiction, podcasts. I am the writer and director of the feature film Trouble Is My Business a film noir that is currently out with worldwide distribution. I have worked as an actor professionally for 27 years with over 100 commercials and 89 IMDb credits as a guest or lead. My YouTube channel “The Reel Deal With Tom Konkle” has a buffet of fun short videos and comedy sketches.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
If I had to think of only three qualities that we could talk about, I think the first is communication skills and being able to read other people and find out what their needs are be able to listen and have the ability to communicate your ideas very clearly. I think another skill to have Very rigorous work habit one that is self motivated that allows you to set goals and not disappoint yourself. The third thing is have a level of preparedness for life have with other things that you like to do, other things that can be a stress, relief, a pressure valve that will inform the other things that you do. You have to have other things in your life in order to feed, your own creativity at your own work there needs to be more than just

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The one thing I’m facing at the moment is something that’s pretty universal. It’s finding the money and resources to implement a lot of the ideas that you have. A real measure of success is being able to have an idea on Monday and be implementing the beginnings of that idea by Friday. Something that I am challenged with these days is providing a level of comfort and a clear money path to investors who see the value in investing in me and our abilities to do the things that we know we can do . To show them that yes we can get them back their money with money on top of that. Growing the opportunities to increase proximity to power ,gain access to people , and financial resources are a constant challenge for anyone trying to create something that requires capital
