We were lucky to catch up with Tongela Clark recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tongela , so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
I stand firm because I know my purpose and no amount of noise can shake what God has placed in me. I’ve been tested, stretched, and underestimated, yet every challenge has strengthened my resolve. I move forward not in fear, but in faith, knowing I was built to rise.
I persist despite the haters and naysayers because their voices don’t define my destiny. Growing up around strong women especially my great-grandmother taught me to stay grounded and keep serving, even when misunderstood. Criticism often reflects someone else’s limits, not mine.
My relationship with God and my commitment to forgiveness anchor me. That healing work inspired my course, The F Word: The Power of Forgiveness. I focus on my calling, the people I’m meant to impact, and the vision God placed in my spirit. When you know who you are, the noise becomes just that—noise.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Clark is a Transformational Coach and Thought Leader who empowers clients ranging from athletes and entertainers to entrepreneurs to turn challenges into clarity, resilience, and growth through one-on-one coaching. Her methodology blends performance with healing, drawing on her own life experiences and a deep commitment to emotional recovery and high achievement. At the heart of her work is the belief that truth and transparency are essential for meaningful transformation.
One of Clark’s signature online products, The F Word, is designed to be a true game-changer. This course guides participants in releasing old wounds, uncovering internal treasures, and experiencing freedom in both their personal and professional lives.
Expanding on this philosophy, Clark developed her signature program, BABI (Birth a Big Idea) a six-week experience that helps clients turn clarity into creation. Each one-on-one session includes deep-dive assessments to identify the “broken line” and provides tools to convert emotional healing into strategic, actionable steps. She specializes in working with individuals who are outwardly successful yet may feel internally disconnected or stuck, guiding them through stillness, breathwork, and innovative techniques that restore peace, purpose, and direction. Through this process, clients uncover and shift the patterns that hinder their growth.
Clark also equips clients to clarify their calling by teaching them to focus solely on what aligns with their purpose. Her free tool, Only What I Am Called To Do Gets On My Calendar, emphasizes prioritizing actions that reflect one’s true calling. This practical resource serves as both a time-management system and a spiritual framework, helping individuals remain intentional, productive, and aligned with a God-centered life.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have shaped my journey most are my relationship with God, integrity, and my ability to connect with people through humility, kindness, and love. These foundations have guided my decisions, strengthened my resilience, and allowed me to build meaningful relationships both personally and professionally.
I truly believe that when you do what you love, it no longer feels like work it becomes a calling. Passion fuels purpose, and when you’re aligned with what excites and fulfills you, every challenge becomes an opportunity for growth rather than a burden. Doing what you love empowers you to show up fully, give generously, and create impact with joy and energy. Work transforms into a form of expression a way to serve others and a path to personal fulfillment making the journey as rewarding as the destination.
My advice to those early in their journey is simple but powerful: treat people the way you want to be treated, and always go above and beyond. Showing genuine care, respect, and effort not only builds trust but also opens doors you never expected. Developing these qualities begins with intentionality commit to living your values, listen deeply, and lead with your heart. Over time, these small, consistent actions compound into lasting impact.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
I would say my personal book, Dropped Out But Not Knocked Out, has played the most significant role in my development. Writing my story allowed me to sit with my experiences, reflect deeply, and truly acknowledge everything I’ve come through. Whenever challenges arise, revisiting those pages reminds me that if I survived the hardships of my past, I can overcome anything I face today.
I also lean heavily on the wisdom of my great-grandmother, Inez Clark. Her lessons on resilience, generosity, and unwavering faith continue to ground me and guide my decisions. Together, my own reflections and her timeless influence remain a constant source of strength and inspiration in my life.
