We recently connected with Tori B. and have shared our conversation below.
Tori, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
This is a GREAT question! To avoid burnout l take creative breaks from filming, whether it’s 4-7 days off to refresh my brain for the next project. l noticed when l have creative burnout, it feels like a chore to do the things l love to do. My best advice to creatives who are experiencing creative burnout is to LISTEN to your body, and give yourself grace if you need to take a break.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello readers! l am extremely grateful to share my voice on this platform. My name is Tori, and l am a woman of many talents. l primarily am a beauty content creator with a strong passion for film, photography and makeup. l enjoy editing, producing and writing scripts for my content. l also am a graduate from Los Angeles Cinema Makeup School where I’ve learned how to do special effects makeup, airbrush, hair and character makeup for film. The most exciting part about being a creative is having the vision in my head come to life. l also enjoy networking with like-minded and creative individuals like myself.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three skills that impacted me in my journey began when l attended Cinema Makeup School. It was there that I acquired the skills of time management and working under pressure to produce makeup looks. And finally, the last skill that l acquired is a keen sense of knowing how to capture detail. My advice for people who are early in their journey is, when you feel like giving up on that amazing dream that you have.. remember why you started.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When l am overwhelmed, l give myself permission to feel the things that l feel behind closed doors. If l am in a professional setting, l don’t let others see the overwhelmed side of me because it will be a distraction on what’s important for the day. Strategies that l use to cope with being overwhelmed is working out, expressing my emotions to a trusted friend or pray.
