Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tori Fields. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tori , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
For me, confidence has been a journey of both self-discovery and dedication. One guiding belief is that self-esteem comes from esteemable acts—healing myself, helping others, and committing to practices that strengthen me from the inside out. Practicing yoga and working out consistently has been essential; pushing my physical body, overcoming limits, and staying committed to this journey have been transformative. These practices remind me daily of my strength and resilience, instilling confidence that I carry into every part of my life.
In my career, confidence has grown from immersing myself in the field of lighting design. Learning deeply about how light can shape spaces and influence the subconscious has given me a sense of purpose and the motivation to improve every day. Designing environments that make people feel at ease and connected is incredibly fulfilling. It’s this combination of personal and professional growth—healing myself, helping others, and creating spaces that bring out the best in people—that gives me confidence and drives me to make the world a little brighter each day.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Lighting Designer by Day, Yogi at Heart
Creating Spaces of Wellness and Connection
In a world that can often feel fragmented and fast-paced, Tori Fields has found a unique path to bring harmony, wellness, and light into everyday spaces. As a lighting designer, Tori is deeply interested in creating environments that are not only visually stunning but also make people feel at ease, inviting a sense of well-being as they move through them.
Fascinated by the ways light can affect the subconscious mind, Tori believes that a thoughtfully lit space can enhance mood, energy, and even physical well-being. For her, lighting design isn’t just about illuminating a space—it’s about shaping an experience. Each project is an opportunity to create subtle connections and guide the subconscious toward comfort. Tori draws on principles from yoga to bring these ideas to life, blending the unity, cohesion, and flow of yoga practice into the structure of her designs. “I think about how people will flow through a space and what will make their bodies feel at ease,” she explains. Her goal is to help people feel naturally comfortable, connected, and in tune with their surroundings.
Beyond lighting design, Tori is an avid yogi and teaches yoga, instilling in her students a keen awareness of both physical and mental balance. In 2023, she published her first book, Flip It, Rip It: A Collection of Mantras to Inspire Daily Wellness. This unique book encourages readers to flip to a page, rip it out, and carry that message throughout the day—a simple, hands-on way to bring the practice of intention setting into daily life. Through lighting, yoga, and now the written word, Tori is dedicated to making the world a brighter place every day. Whether through design or inspiring mantras, her mission is to leave each person she meets with positivity, good vibes, and a lighter feeling than before.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were resilience, perspective, and adaptability.
Resilience is essential, especially when you’re faced with challenges. I once heard a quote from Bob Ross: “There are no mistakes, just happy little accidents.” This stuck with me, and from a young age, I committed to living without regret. I decided that everything I went through—whether good, bad, ugly, or mundane—was part of what was preparing me for who I was meant to become. Now, at 28, I can say that some of the toughest moments have truly shaped my character and my ability to excel in the present.
Perspective is another powerful skill. I’d encourage those early in their journey to learn the art of perception. The way you talk to yourself, the way you view situations, and the way you handle the hard parts of life can completely reshape your reality. If you learn to see life’s moments as either a lesson or a blessing, it becomes much easier to feel grateful for the good times and to learn from the harder ones.
Lastly, adaptability allows us to grow from each experience and keep moving forward. My advice is simple: stay open and flexible, take each moment as it comes, and trust that every experience—whether smooth or challenging—is bringing you closer to who you’re meant to be.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
A book that has played a major role in my life is The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer. This book opened my eyes to the power of letting go and finding inner peace, teaching me that true freedom comes from within. It encouraged me to embrace life with openness and to view challenges as opportunities for growth.
One quote that resonates with me is, “Eventually you will see that the real cause of problems is not life itself. It’s the commotion the mind makes about life that really causes the problems.” This taught me to see beyond my immediate reactions and understand that much of my struggle comes from resisting what is, rather than simply experiencing it.
Another powerful line is, “Only you can take inner freedom away from yourself, or give it to yourself. Nobody else can.” Singer’s words remind me that while I can’t control everything in life, I can always choose how I respond to it. This sense of personal responsibility has been transformative, helping me understand that peace is an internal choice.
The Untethered Soul has been a guiding force in my journey, showing me how to let go of past experiences, live in the present moment, and open my heart to life’s experiences. For anyone seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and looking to find freedom from within, I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
