We recently connected with Tori Hughes and have shared our conversation below.
Tori, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My purpose is to live with intention and positively impact others. For me, motherhood is the most joyful and meaningful part of that purpose. My children have taught me more about life than I ever imagined, and it was after the birth of my oldest that I rediscovered my love for photography. She reminded me that I’m artistic and that I find immense joy in giving others thoughtful, artful gifts.
Since I was young, I have loved creating and giving others handmade gifts. When I realized I had a talent for capturing meaningful moments through photography, it clicked that I could gift people with the preservation of their most cherished memories. Life’s most special moments can be fleeting, and being able to capture and share those moments fills me with a deep sense of purpose. My passion for photography, my intention to impact others positively , and my love for creating artful imagery all come together to ignite my soulful purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hi, I’m Tori Nichole, the owner and lead photographer of Tori Nichole Photography, based in Omaha, Nebraska. My award-winning and internationally acclaimed photography company is renowned for its storytelling through imagery. I specialize in capturing significant life milestones for my clients. Whether it’s a couples or engagement session, an annual family shoot, a grand local wedding, an intimate destination elopement, or welcoming a new baby, I am passionate about documenting it all. This dedication sets me apart in the competitive world of photography.
My journey into photography began in 2013 when I became a mother. Capturing the beauty of my daughter’s early years ignited a profound love for photography. I realized that motherhood was the most beautiful journey I had ever embarked on, and I wanted to preserve every fleeting moment. By 2019, I recognized my gift and felt compelled to share it with others. My primary goal is to provide each client with an extraordinary experience, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in their most special moments while I capture them. I strive for my clients to look back at their photos and relive those beautiful memories, feeling the same emotions all over again.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three key qualities and skills that stand out as most impactful are:
1. Passion for Storytelling: My deep love for capturing and telling stories through imagery has been the driving force behind my work. This passion allows me to see beyond the lens and connect with the emotions and narratives of my clients’ lives.
2. Technical Expertise: Mastering the technical aspects of photography, from understanding lighting and composition to post-processing techniques, has been crucial. This knowledge ensures that I can consistently deliver high-quality, stunning images that my clients cherish.
3. Empathy and Connection: Building genuine connections with my clients has been essential. By understanding their stories and emotions, I can create a comfortable environment where they feel at ease, allowing me to capture authentic and meaningful moments.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Feeling overwhelmed often happens when I have too many tasks to juggle at once or when deadlines are looming.
To avoid overwhelm, these are some strategies I use that help:
1. Time Management: Efficiently manage your time by setting priorities and focusing on the most important tasks first. Use techniques like time blocking on your calendar to stay productive without feeling rushed.
2. Set Boundaries: Clearly define your work hours and stick to them. Make sure to take regular breaks and avoid overcommitting.
3. Prioritize Self-Care: Engage in activities that rejuvenate you, such as exercise, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones. Ensure you’re getting enough sleep and maintaining a healthy diet.
4. Delegate Tasks: Don’t hesitate to delegate tasks when possible. Sharing the workload can prevent you from feeling overwhelmed.
5. Stay Organized: Use tools like planners or digital apps to keep track of your tasks and deadlines.
6. Seek Support: Talk to friends, family, or a professional if you’re feeling stressed. Sometimes, just good ole’ talk therapy can provide relief and new perspectives.

Rhylee & Hank Uleman invited me to photograph their beautiful family of 4 on their third-generation farmstead. These two (and their cutie kiddos) were so welcoming and warm. Their love for one another was undeniable; What a joy it was to meet this little fam and hear the story of them and past family generations living in the home since 1935.
so if you or someone you know deserves recognition please let us know here.
