Meet Tosha Wilson-Davis

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tosha Wilson-Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tosha, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience is defined as “the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.”

I have developed resilience over the years simply because I had to make my own path. I started from humble beginnings and had to build most times when I didn’t have much financial or economic support. So, I built a “toughness” to stay focused and move forward. The end of 2022 really tested my ability to persevere and be resilient. My father passed on December 14, 2022 unexpectedly and I was scheduled for my real estate licensing exam the next day. I laid my father to rest on December 22, 2022, and prayed about my path forward and my prayer revealed two words: “Keep Going.” On January 5, 2022, I took my GA State Real Estate Licensing Exam and passed. I am sure my father would have been (and is) so proud of me.

Many ask what’s your secret sauce? I tell them, keep adding the right ingredients so you can enjoy your meal (career path). Don’t stop experimenting, dashing a little salt and pepper and adding a bit of spice!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a passionate about writing. I am the Founder and President of Penciled IN Resume Writing & Career Services LLC. Penciled IN is a woman-owned, minority-owned, small business offering virtual and onsite career services to college students, early-career professionals, and mid-career professionals. We offer resume and CV revisions and full development of resumes for those clients who do not currently have a resume. We also offer cover letter writing, salary negotiation sessions, and mock interviews. In November 2021, we released a fully-virtual career counseling and coaching academy which is powered by Teacheable.com. It can be accessed using this link: https://penciled-in-resume-writing-career-counseling-a.teachable.com/.

The academy offers a wide range of self-paced courses and full coaching and job search packages. Our most popular service is job search coaching. We search for jobs daily for our clients and prepare cover letters and resumes for positions they are interested in and the client completes the application process. This takes the time and effort of searching away from our clients and Penciled IN does all the leg work.

Our motto is to treat clients as family and to stay with them beyond the services we provide.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Top three skills include determination, drive, and creativity which have all contributed to my success as an entrepreneur.

Being an entrepreneur is hard. It takes skillful judgment and continuous drive to be successful. I advise others to find their passion and make it their purpose. Work hard and be ready for ups and downs. During those down periods, review, revise, and repeat. This allows you to improve upon any shortfalls and evaluate weak areas. Lastly, I encourage all entrepreneurs to be patient with the process. No business is built overnight. It takes time, so please have patience with the process.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Penciled IN is always taking new clients and have a dedicated booking link. That link is included on our website. Also, we are looking to partner with agencies to develop managers and employees through our Mock Interview Readiness Program. We would love to partner with local and state agencies and offer partnership services.

We have a partnership form via our website for agencies to fill out if they are interested in our services. They can reach out to us as well using the below email and phone:
