Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to TR3VON. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
TR3VON, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from being overlooked for so long and becoming the underdog. Being around people that have under estimated my ability and skills. I’ve used the energy of people not believing in me and not understanding the vision and turned it into gold. It’s your problem if you don’t see my value and what I’m worth not mine. I’ve come to the understanding that those same people who refused to show acknowledgement and provide resources I didn’t need them in the first place. This is what I’ve learned on my journey as an artist that I don’t need to seek validation from anyone because if you don’t see any value it’s not my job to convince you because what’s for me is for me and no man or woman can take it away. I thrive better knowing that there are those that think low of me it only motivates me to push harder.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Born in Chicago, Illinois on September 26th in a single parent home where he experienced family struggles, Tr3von knew from an early age that he wanted to make a difference with his vocal and lyrical gifts. By the age of four he was dancing and singing at family gatherings. After relocating to Minneapolis, Minnesota where Tr3von at the age of 10 joined the prestigious Metropolitan Boys Choir in where he would travel and perform at numerous venues, including the prominent Orchestra Hall. By the time he began his adolescence he was an experienced performer and was accepted into the John Robert Powers Performing Arts School. He rounded off his teen years by continuing to develop his gift and passion for writing and performing.
In 2011, Tr3von discovered his love for acting, and co-starred in a recurring role as “Deacon” for the production titled ‘The Devil Didn’t Raise Me’. Tr3von chose to pursue acting more seriously after witnessing the production bring audiences to tears. It didn’t hurt that his hilarious and rambunctious antics opened with rave reviews from fans. His subsequent role as ‘Javon’ for the production “You’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone” opened September 2013 touring in various cities such as Minneapolis, Denver, and Chicago. The production gained notoriety from eager fans in Mississippi, and Nebraska as well. Tr3von was also a part of the prestigious ensemble of 3x Grammy Award winning music group Sounds of Blackness’ ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas’ at the Guthrie Theater.
Tr3von is continuing to build his fan base nationwide. He is actively writing, recording, performing, and executing a plan for his newest music. His stylings of mainstream Pop with a flare of R&B/Soul.
There is no height Tr3von is afraid of reaching.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’ve learned that this is a business first and your gifts/talents come second. Always know what the big people know and don’t be afraid to ask questions, you’ll never know anything if you don’t ask. I’ve learned to bet on myself because most people will not understand or are unwilling to have your best interest, so always believe in yourself and choose yourself. I also learned that integrity is important, so never lose your integrity and honor just to please others or to obtain a certain status.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
I would say the number one obstacle I’ve faced is finances to fund everything I need at times. I’ve been a low point where I didn’t know how i’d get out of the hole, but God stepped in and allowed me to pivot and create resources for myself that established multiple streams of revenue. Its all about being honest with yourself and starting from there to building and continuing to build. You cannot get comfortable in your journey because things are constantly changing so you’ll have to change and reinvent yourself along the way. It’s gonna take prayer, perseverance, and being consistent in those times. I know now that I am ready to face anything because of my previous obstacles I can sustain because I know where I’ve come from. It’s my time and the time is now.
