We recently connected with Traci Green and have shared our conversation below.
Hi TRACI, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My mom said I came out smiling and laughing. Since I was little I’ve always known that it’s my job to spread Sunshine and joy! I love being able to move people emotionally. Its an even exchange bringing me happiness and a feeling of grounding and freedom . Ive been put to the test my whole life keeping a positive mental attitude ( PMA ) . I feel like it was meant to be as my family met major challenges head on. Later in my own life I would meet as demanding challenges. I’m grateful everyday that I was born with it because I believe it helped save me from MMMT ovarian cancer!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Since kicking MMMT ovarian cancer ‘s butt 6 years ago I have had a reinvention of myself. I’m doing things professionally I never thought I could or would. I have found that music is my happy place. It’s a place for me to communicate everything I want to share and I also receive what I need .
I’m now an elementary school music teacher at 3 schools for 900 TK-3rd graders . I’m grateful to teach them to put a song in their hearts and to clap on 2&4.
I’ve discovered I’m a music video director/producer. I feel a passionate harmony with envisioning the music wrapped in stories and humor. I’m a professional singer in three bands with my husband on drums.
I’m a band leader and songwriter
performing live and recording!
The Dickens County Swing Show is vintage inspired 1950’s western swing. Mostly female
I’ve been singing with my band The Hollow Trees for 18 years. We are bluegrass folk music for families.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe it is important to have passion humor and love for whatever your goal is ahead of you. I have learned it becomes a burden and no longer a joyful experience as you had intended if you have not started with passion and longing. Self-confidence and grounding is a big step towards anything you want to make successful. Rely on you and your strengths, even if you have a partner. Communication is a must! Never assume, learn the facts and educate yourself.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
In the past when I felt overwhelmed I just kept on chugging along. This was of no use to me or people around me in any capacity. It is imperative to take care of yourself in every situation. These days, I make sure I take the time for myself when I need it. I’ve also become very aware of myself and I am in touch with my body to catch myself before I fall. I use Emotional Freedom Technique or tapping. It’s light rhythmic tapping on acupuncture meridian spots while repeating a loving phrase. I also do a lot of breathing. Five breaths in through the nose and out of the mouth. Number three always makes me completely relaxed.
