We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Traci Kimball. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Traci below.
Traci, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My purpose found me when I least expected it to. I had hit burnout as a surgical fellow in vascular surgery managing a busy caseload at work while maintaining the homestead as a mother and wife when all of a sudden the insight came to me – Traci, you should pivot into something that gives you balance and still challenges your mind and hands. No sooner after I finish this self speak did an email from a wound management company opening a market in Denver CO inboxed me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
“Creativity and thinking outside the box are the yoke of forward progress.”- Traci A Kimball MD.
I am a Board Certified Wound Specialist Physician with additional qualifications in undersea and hyperbaric medicine, vascular medicine, geriatrics and surgery. I have a passionate focus to be a key opinion luminary in the Woundcare industry and introduce value centric, innovative designs that seek to improve the quality and delivery of care to patients with at-risk skin.
It is my primary professional goal to build a thriving, self sustainable Whole Person Restoration & Skin Rejuvenation practice HEALING patients with ANY wound or skin condition across the continuum of care one WISH* at a time. This center of excellence, retail clinic network will partner with industry to become translational research, investigational sites for skin and wound clinical trials. In tandem with 501c3 partners, WISH Family Charities, we will serve everyone in our community regardless of one’s ability to pay.
My clinical experience with PACE offered, value-based, advanced wound care services with the mission of working in synergy with all relevant disciplines HEALING our skin injured participants one WISH* at a time. The Wound Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) is the atlas of the program.
I WISH* to create an innovative hemp-derived integumentary based line of nutraceuticals and dermapeutics helping to nurture and nourish the wounded skin and restore wholeness of mind, body and spirit.
I WISH* to spearhead and support a foundation and trust that will provide funding to educate tomorrow’s Wound Management workforce of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. The foundation will also support WISH research endeavors.
“Healing success is predicated on the simple principles of infection control, palliation of pain, and the optimal physiologic environment for the regeneration of functional tissue and the recapitulation of the skin’s form with little scar to reduce recidivism and recurrence of disease and injury.”- Traci A. Kimball, MD MBA CWSP

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Chronic Wounds are a global burden of disease and maladies.
I am transforming the landscape of medical care and treatment for chronic wounds and the economy of managing them – effectively modifying and deploying new models of reimbursement across the continuum of care for our patients – value centric care with pay for performance leads to optimal outcomes for patient, provider, payers and politicians
