Meet Tracy Gold

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tracy Gold. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tracy below.

Tracy, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I’ve had a lot of practice. At almost every stage of my journey, I have faced challenges that I needed to overcome. Now I realize that without challenges, I get bored. So I tend to embrace them better than I used to be and see them as part of the fun.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I wear two hats. I’m the designer of my own fashion brand, Tracy Gold New York, where I offer fun, customizable styles that adapt to your shape and height. And I am the Brand Representative for a fabulous premium hand bag brand, Patricia Nash, on QVC.

I love both as it’s never about selling a handbag or a dress, but it’s about how the bag or dress makes her feel. I am passionate about using my talent and skill to help women feel fabulous about themselves, especially as we age.

In the 20+ years of styling women of various body shapes, sizes and ages, I have seen firsthand the power the right clothing can have on how a woman feels about her body. I’ve seen women go from being afraid to look in the mirror to loving what she sees because the clothes I dress her in focus on the parts she loves about her body and de-emphasizes the parts she doesn’t. It’s transformational.

With the rise of online and live stream shopping, I set out to create a collection that is easy to fit, easy to style and simple to purchase online with confidence. Having seen the frustration women experience with having at least 3 different sizes in their closets, I wanted to offer styles that she can wear with confidence whether she gains weight, loses weight or is just having a bloated day. Every design can be styled in different ways to perfectly complement the body she has today.

I share tons of free styling tips live on Youtube. It’s a no-judgement zone where you can see the latest styles from my collection and connect with other women just like you. https://tracygoldnewyork.us/pages/shop-live

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

One of the best decisions I ever made was to go for voice training at the beginning of my speaking career. My coach helped me find my true voice. I have always been outspoken, but my pitch was higher than my true voice. She helped me to find that deeper resonance and presence so that I can speak from a place of groundedness in who I am.

My gootspah has been the one quality that has been essential for me to reach my goals. I moved from South Africa to New York, knowing hardly any body. I knew I wanted to be a brand representative on QVC and live in this vibrant city. I knew I had what it took to make it and I didn’t take no for an answer.

It took 5 years with many disappointments, failures, challenges and COVID, but now I am living the life I set out to live.

My advice to others is this. Know yourself. Get real about what you really want (not what other’s think you should want) and why. You will be tested. You will have to persevere. But it’s worth it.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

I do get overwhelmed when everything gets busy all at once, which happens often. I have discovered a few strategies that work for me.

1. I pay attention to my menstrual cycle. I am in perimenopause now, so it’s very up and down, but I try to track as best I can. Everything feels huge when I am pre-menstrual and my energy levels are low. So I take some homeopathic remedies that work for me and try to go easy on myself. I prioritize what has to be done now and leave the rest.

2. I love making lists. This helps me to prioritize and I love ticking things off when I get them done. Somehow, a list makes me feel like I have some control.

3. I pray. I am a woman of faith and I believe that if God has given me a position/role that it comes with all that I need to do it.

4. I take B12. This has been a game changer for me. I went to my Gynecologist, thinking I might have to go on hormones to help with my concentration and anxiety to find I was very low in b12. Within a few days of taking a mix of b1, 6, 12 in a liquid form, I felt like a different person. Sometimes the simplest things are the best.
