We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tracy Nkwanzee Otatiina a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tracy Nkwanzee, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I did this by being knowledgeable about my craft, constantly learning and growing gives you the confidence to know that you belong exactly where you are. I also reframe my thoughts, I challenge my negative and self-critical thoughts by replacing them with positive affirmations and focusing on my accomplishments and strengths.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
- Perseverance; In the face of challenges and setbacks, the ability to persevere and stay committed to my goals has been crucial.. Setbacks are inevitable, but viewing them as opportunities for growth and learning can help you stay motivated and focused on your path.
- Adaptability: being able to adapt to new circumstances and challenges is essential for success especially in this ever changing world. Flexibility and adaptability will help you navigate uncertain times and seize opportunities for growth.
- Continuous Learning: Never stop learning and expanding your knowledge. Whether it’s staying updated on industry trends, acquiring new skills, or seeking mentorship. Investing in your personal and professional development is key to staying ahead in your journey.
Ultimately, remember that the journey is as important as the destination. Embrace challenges, celebrate small victories, and stay true to your passion and purpose.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My Late Father was the source of all my inspiration, he provided me with emotional support and encouragement during difficult times. Offered me the most valuable advice based on his own career and life experiences as well as Instilling values such as hard work, perseverance, and integrity. He was an overall positive role model and an essential part of my personal and professional growth.
