Meet Tracy O’horo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tracy O’horo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tracy below.

Tracy, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

From an early age, I was taught that hard work and a positive attitude is a necessary trait to being successful and happy in life. Starting from the bottom and moving your way to the top is not only admirable, but also very personably rewarding. Committing to your career and always giving one hundred percent effort. My parents taught me to be punctual, detail oriented and driven.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a mother to four kids ages 23, 21, 17 and 14. I have been married for 25 years, and my husband is a former military pilot and currently an airline pilot. We were married right after college and moved quite a bit with the military. We moved to Texas in 2015 and committed to staying here to raise the kids since the youngest was starting kindergarten and oldest High School. I was a stay-at-home mom through all these years and during all the military deployments. Last year I decided to start working outside of the house. I needed something during the kid’s school hours, since I still wanted to do all the mom duties I have been accustomed to doing for the past 22 years. I started working at a salad shop and after a year I decided I wanted to pursue something I was more passionate about and saw a position open at a salon called The Beauty Hub. I recognized the owner, as she was a woman I looked up too and respected. This salon was so unique in that it offered same time service appointments! You can get your lashes and nails done at the same time! I was hooked! I started working for The Beauty Hub last year and now I can proudly call myself the Assistant Manager. At the Beauty Hub, we offer it all, waxing, lashes, manicures and pedicures! We offer monthly specials to new clients, have events for new and returning clients, non-for-profit events, holiday parties and raffles, and offer membership packages. I have found my place!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that were most impactful to me personally were: Dedication, Resilience and a Positive Attitude.
Dedication is defined as the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose. Giving one hundred percent at all times. This is work related and personal.
Resilience is defined as the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties, toughness. Life is full of difficult situations, it’s how we react and recover in these situations that makes a difference.
Also, having a positive attitude is characterized by being 0ptimistic and expecting good things to happen. Remembering to focus on the positive things, rather than the negative, and thinking, feeling, and doing positive things.
My advice to others is start from within. We can only control ourselves, so give others what you would expect from someone else. A person who is dedicated to what they do, resilient in life and pervades a positive attitude.
you get what you give!

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When the feelings of being overwhelmed creep in, remember to take a deep breath! We all have a purpose and sitting back and appreciating just being alive and healthy is cathartic. I always take time for myself as a stress relief. My relief is working out, which seems to wash away all the negative. Find your relief! It may be cooking, a sport, a massage or a movie, we all need an outlet. Also, remember to release your negative and positive emotions. This could be through prayer, writing or talking. Every person has their own way to release so find yours!
