Meet Transit Nomad

We were lucky to catch up with Transit Nomad recently and have shared our conversation below.

Transit , thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?

Don’t be afraid to take risks when it’s necessary. The biggest risk I’ve taken was moving my businesses from Ukraine to the United States. I had no idea if it was going to work as I would have to start my marketing from scratch. Even though I had the experience and I knew what to do, it took me several months to start getting clients. In the meantime, I had to work other jobs to support myself. Once my marketing efforts started to pay off, my income went up substantially and I used that profit to start new businesses. At this time I own and operate 13 small businesses that focus on event services and I’m very happy I made the move. We have a saying in Ukraine: “Those who don’t take the risk don’t get to drink champagne.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Hello there, transit fans and travel lovers! I’m Transit Nomad, a word traveler, business owner, music composer, filmmaker and life coach on a mission to explore cities through the lens of public transportation. From skipping classes to ride trams while growing up in a humble family in Ukraine to building several businesses in the USA and running them remotely while traveling the world, my journey has been one of dedication, resilience and appreciation. With every single donation or subscription, you’re not only making it possible for me to create new videos but are also gaining access to a private community with like-minded people and exclusive content. Check out higher tiers for personal consulting covering everything I’ve learned in 10+ years about trip planning, productivity, budgeting, nomadic living, dating, communication, business development, project management, marketing, photography, videography, music production and other skills. So, whether you’re here to explore new transit systems or are seeking guidance on achieving your life goals, you’re in the right place. Let’s appreciate what we love and make our dreams come true!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

One of the keys to building a successful business is finding someone who has already accomplished what you want to achieve and trying to learn from that person as much as possible. Coaching was a huge contributing factor that helped me grow my businesses and avoid many common mistakes. Being ambitious, enthusiastic and hard working wasn’t enough. I needed someone who could share their practical experience and give me specific tips on how to implement my ideas in a profitable way. Without coaching, I don’t think my companies would have succeeded or grown as quickly as they have.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My former boss Daniel taught me how to be financially fair to myself during the sales process. When I was starting my first company, I used to give clients too much and at times it wasn’t clear if I was actually making any money. Daniel taught me how to do the math correctly when creating a proposal for a client with a price estimate by taking into consideration equipment expenses, marketing expenses, transportation, taxes, the amount of time it takes to prepare for each job and many other business-related tasks. Once I learned this, I started getting much better clients and making a lot more money.
