Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trapstar Vinc3. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Trapstar , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Honestly, I didn’t want to be a rapper at first. I was always into sports like football, Basketball and Boxing. I had two older brothers that I used to live with and when I was younger I wanted to anything that they did. I had one brother that did art such as painting and drawing and I had another brother made music. So I tried out both, Originally I tried to be a artist by drawing… But after awhile I realized that wasn’t for me and that I personally didn’t find much fun in doing it. So I moved on to the next thing and tried making music. After trying for a while I realized that I wasn’t that good at it originally but I had fun doing it. I started out rapping about anything until circumstances started happening in my life and I decided to start making music about what actually going on with and the things I was seeing. I slowly started building confidence because of my older brother (Ceno), I would send any song that I ever made and he was tell me the truth on if it was good or bad… So I always knew that if I had someone in my corner like that then I would be good.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I go by the name of Trapstar Vinc3. I make music, Ive been making music since I was about 10 years old. I feel I’m different! Im from the DMV and for most that don’t know its alot of great artist that come out of there but my sound doesn’t really correlate with the rest. I speak the truth in my music, Anything that I’ve ever talked about in my songs it has either happened already, Ive seen it happen or I’m manifesting it to happen. Ive got local features with artist such as Moneymarr and Bandhunta Izzy that’s out right now. I feel the music I make would be able to relate to alot of people because I don’t just make music about just one topic. Like I said before I make music about what Ive been through or seen, So in songs you may hear me talk about love, Heartbreaks, The streets, Struggle, pain, Having a little bit of money, and etc…
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think some of the most impactful things that have helped in my journey was number 1 my brother. He’s a lot older then so everything he has went through throughout his journey he has let me know about whether it was good or bad so that I wouldn’t make the same mistakes that he has made. Of course I’ve still went through and made my own mistakes and learned from it but its been a lot of mistakes that I could have made but didn’t make because of having someone in my corner for advice. So I think having someone in your corner that knows a little about the journey you’re trying to take can put you above in knowledge in the long run. Staying focused is another key factor, Me being younger and living in the hood growing up a lot of people around me didn’t think big. Everyone around me would tell me get a regular job and focus on music, they would tell me to get a real career because they’ve personally never seen no one make it big in music. Now I’ve personally never knew anyone that made it big in music either but me staying focus on what I wanted to do and not what I other people wanted me to do kept me on track, and now more wiser and a bigger artist then I was before.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Honestly, Im not really too big on doing collaborations/ features on songs with people. Im not really sure why but I was just really into collaborating with people. But there is a few artist out there that I would like to collaborate with such Kevin gates, Charlie Wilson, Akon, Rod wave, Latto and Mariah Carey. I think those are my top artist that I would like to collaborate with because I feel we would make a great connection in music.
