Meet Traune Downing

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Traune Downing a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Traune , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from everyday life
Every time I wake up I see where I could’ve been and where I could be at the same time it all comes down to one decision at every moment so I try to be repetitive with my actions each day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hi I’m Tre from Baltimore MD socially known as T3k (Hiii-T3k) born and raised. I do a lot of things but to pinpoint my primary day to day life consists of being a Grower by day and Producing/Audio Engineering at night. I’ve been producing since i was about 14
I’m Team FL Studio. My step dad who got me into Tech saw my interest in making be and set me up with it at the time. First time I saw it up running I was confused but he had a friend from the Hall named Ronnie who was also Producing at the time and he kinda got me squared away taught me the basics and sent me a few drum kits honestly FL alone saved me from a lot of trouble. By the time I was 16 i started trying to record the songs I’ve been writing I didn’t have money for a proper setup but i was able to rig the Wii usb mic to laptop took a couple of old stockings on a hanger and filled my bedroom closet with old towels for sound proofing and started there. I’ve worked with a few Baltimore Artists and Producers but my Favorite work is Engineering with Chaz Warhol look him up Real RnB.

And then if you fast forward to Covid when we were all locked in the house Quarantining I was kinda looking for any reason to get back outside and past time mind you I have my Medical card and I happen to find a couple of seeds
me being curious I decide to see if I could grow them so I start looking at forums and YouTube and I head to a couple garden stores. Got the seeds to sprout and they pretty much just took off I wanted to growing vegetables and met chippy at the Urban park heights farm and he taught me more about outdoor cultivation. I start sharing my garden and eventually met my mentor who’s been guiding me since as a grower the results speaks on him as a great teacher.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

IT
Creativity
Adaptability

Technology will be vital in anything you want to do in todays world that said you don’t have to be tech savvy but you will have to learn the basics if you want to put yourself or brand out there.

Creativity changes and you have to be willing to adapt with it. My love for music will never change but my creative self found a passion in growing too so I have to balance both and sometimes there not always equal but they both allow me to think outside the box and have something to look forward to everyday.

My advice for those in the early stage be happy to fail because your learning
And sometimes that accident is really something new look at Autotune or my favorite Nachos. Anyway the best way to fail is to remain open minded.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Early on it was my mom although we bumped heads a lot growing up in the midst of those arguments I always saw how she was never going to give up on what she has planned regardless of who it came against because deep down she knew what was right to her. That really taught me to be grounded and to stand on my own beliefs. Now I have my this beautiful and soulful women Ranye who despite her own upbringings and hardships is the most open minded person I have ever met and as a Gemini I love it she keeps me on my toes and also kinda brought out the family guy in me that I kinda forgot thinking because I don’t see eye to eye with some one I just won’t deal with them.
