Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trevaun Walker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Trevaun, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
How I developed my confidence and self-esteem. I had to be humble for sure. I knew I was going into something completely new. I took my time to learn as much as possible. I followed other people work. So, I could get to the point where I understand their process. Once I had my knowledge, I knew my uniqueness would stand out from any others work. I always told myself to keep pushing. My favorite acronym A.S.A.P(Always Strive and Prosper) resonates in my head over and over. Every time I feel like giving up all I can hear is A.S.A.P. It reminds of what I am working towards and what i want to achieve. I know what a do is extremely difficult for others to do. What they do is extremely easy for me to do. I tell myself each day “I can’t wait to see where I need to be in life”.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My brand name is 9th Edition Productions. I offer photography and videography work. I do every type of photo shoot or video. I don’t believe in limiting myself to just one thing. I love the diversity of it all from Cosplay, Wedding, maternity. I offer a super uniqueness to every shoot I do. I don’t believe in all my photos looking the same. It actually allowed me to grow my skill set fast and excel at the different types. A lot of people come to me strictly for how different my work is. which, is exactly what I wanted it is very exciting.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One quality everyone should be is coachable. There is always something to learn even when you think you know everything. Having the humility to understand that will take you far. One of my favorite things I had to learn was you can never have enough light lol. Since, I self-taught myself and had no one to explain that I learned the hard way. Which also helped me be more successful. I tell everyone starting out “if you think you have enough light equipment you don’t until you actually don’t need it” haha. One major quality you need and my advice to others is self-love. Love yourself, love your work and be your own hype man others will follow.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I actually have a few people in my life that got me where i am. Their advice and help were a hug part of me learning. My close friend Ronnie is the biggest person to help me achieve more. I struggled to have a computer which is the main thing I need to work. He built me one and gave it to me for free. If it wasn’t for that I would not even been able to run basic applications on my old computer. My other friends Jay, Tony and Eddie gave me all the advice and insight i need for photography and equipment. Lastly my friend Jess who is an amazing artist help me a lot with my digital art and coloring. Lastly, my friend Carrissa has legit been my saving grace over the years. She models all my ideas. It can be 3am and i’ll text her with a new shoot and she will always be down haha.
