Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trevor Seybold. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Trevor, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Being raised in a family of tradesmen, I was immersed in the art of building from an early age. The fundamentals of constructing sturdy, reliable structures became second nature to me, and I quickly discovered an innate passion for working with my hands. My childhood was filled with creativity and construction—I built elaborate erector sets and intricate Lego cities. As I grew older, this passion evolved into a love for craftsmanship, from constructing custom car stereo boxes to designing intricate skateboard ramps. One of my proudest moments as a kid was building my first half-pipe in seventh grade.

That spark never faded. Over time, I found myself drawn to the rewarding challenge of restoring old, neglected homes into vibrant and lovable spaces. There’s something profoundly fulfilling about breathing new life into a structure that once seemed beyond repair. Working with wood—transforming it into something beautiful, functional, and enduring—has always given me a deep sense of accomplishment. Every project reminds me why I love building: it’s not just about creating something new, but about giving forgotten things a fresh start and turning them into something that brings joy.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Life dealt me a series of harsh blows early on. Losing my parents to a drunk driver left me reeling, and it was my grandparents who took me in and gave me a sense of stability. But life had more challenges in store. By the age of 16, I found myself alone, navigating the world without a guide, without their comforting presence. Those years were marked by immense struggle, but also by growth, as I learned the meaning of resilience and the power of independence.

Through the stormy days of uncertainty, the lessons my grandparents instilled in me became my compass. Responsibility, accountability, adaptability, and a strong work ethic became the tools I relied on to build my path forward. These values became the cornerstone of my career as a builder and entrepreneur. Today, I pour every ounce of my passion and dedication into building and restoring homes. It’s not just a job; it’s an art form—a reflection of who I am and the journey I’ve walked.

Whether I’m breathing new life into a neglected space or constructing a dream home for a family to cherish, my work is infused with craftsmanship, integrity, and an eye for detail that sets me apart. Each project is an opportunity to create lasting beauty and functional spaces filled with love and intention.

Building is more than just hammering nails and laying bricks. It’s about shaping environments where life unfolds, and where people can create memories for years to come.
Through loss and adversity, I’ve come to appreciate the gift of purpose—the ability to transform challenges into opportunities, to see beauty in hard work, and to build something greater than myself. My life has taught me that resilience and independence are not just traits; they are the foundation for a life well-lived.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the foundation of my success has been built on resilience, integrity, and hard work. These qualities are not just traits—they’re the pillars that will carry you through challenges and help you thrive in this field.

First and foremost, never take shortcuts. Commit to the daily grind, and let every setback be a lesson instead of an obstacle. Mistakes are inevitable, but they don’t define you. How you recover, grow, and press forward does.

Resilience is your ability to stay strong in the face of difficulties. It’s the mindset that turns challenges into opportunities for growth.

Integrity will serve as your moral compass throughout your career and life. It fosters personal growth and builds positive, lasting relationships with everyone you meet. Protect it, nurture it, and let it guide your decisions.

Finally, hard work is your key to building a strong work ethic and developing character that you can take pride in. It’s not just about effort—it’s about consistency, dedication, and leading by example. In time, your hard work will pay off in ways that make the journey worth every step.

The most profound gift my parents gave me was the freedom to create without judgment. They allowed me to explore and build things that held meaning to me. This nurtured my love for the art of building and creating meaningful spaces, while helping me see life through an unfiltered lens—without boundaries or constraints. Ultimately, it allowed me to embrace my authentic self.
