We were lucky to catch up with Trevor “Stickman” Stickel recently and have shared our conversation below.
Trevor “Stickman”, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My sense of purpose come from the need to express a deep visceral love for the rebellion, chaos and design aesthetics of the rock n roll space. I often state – when a person chooses a different path, is admired by their peers and stays true to themselves with zero regard to the court of public opinion, they transcend to rockstar status regardless of their path or medium. So….Iam fulfilling that purpose: I am recognized for my works and have found success.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have a spent my entire career in the pursuit of creating the visual equivalent of the visceral feel of a distorted guitar in a smoky bar. My collectors have said my work captures the riot, rebellion and romance of rock n roll.
Snap. I feel incredibly blessed that just like with my creative process all the pieces fell into place to allow me to embark on my upcoming North American tour.
Since first coming across Kiss’ Destroyer album cover at the age of seven I have relished the opportunities to meet people equally moved by art and music. These appearances offer that connection to people.
So…This is a rock and roll fine art Exhibition that will present in several cities beginning in August 2023 in Tampa, Florida All of my new works in the series THE NEW SHIT will be on view and available in September at Toronto’s famed Liss Gallery, and will enjoy stops in NYC, Austin, Denver, and Los Angeles: with additional cities to be announced.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Confidence. Singularity. Tenacity. – These are the three qualities I find most impactful.
The Rock genre was created on rebellion and a fight for freedom of expression – as an artist this is something I will always champion. One’s freedom of self-expression is truly their power….and has been the force behind my success as a painter.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The first piece that would eventually lead to the success and direction of my work was the biography “According to the Rolling Stones” – The inside story according to the band themselves. It was during reading this book that I created my first canvas painting of Mick Jagger aptly titled “Please Allow me to Introduce Myself”.
