Meet Trevor Young

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Trevor Young a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Trevor, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

I believe that the world, as a whole, is a great place. In order to sustain a world for all of the future generations, we need to all make slight shifts in our consumerism. At Bloop, we developed the first laundry soap that is luxury scented, eco-friendly, and safe to use for humans. If everybody made a small percent shift in being better to themselves and the environment, we can have a more sustainable future.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

After my wife was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, we began looking around the house for ways we could be healthier and were shocked to find out that laundry detergent, as an industry, has many harmful ingredients. Not just harmful to humans, but also the environment. My business partner and I started developing our own natural laundry detergent in small batches and ended up with a product that we believe will revolutionize the laundry soap industry. Our product is a natural soap base with scents that were specifically developed to be eco-friendly and stripped of harmful ingredients. This was the formation of Bloop. The world’s first Eco-Luxury laundry soap. We focus on being safe to use and eco-friendly all while smelling like nothing you’ve ever tried before.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

First and foremost, learning how many harmful ingredients were in the laundry industry was shocking to me. Our skin is the largest organ of our body. Everything that it comes in contact with should matter to us. Having this knowledge led to the founding of Bloop Eco-Luxury laundry soap. We focus on being healthy, smelling great, and being eco-friendly.

Starting a company is not an easy process in the slightest. Specifically, starting a company with values you believe in takes time and patience to develop. I highly recommend partnering with a person that has skills that offset your own in order to bring the best out of each other, and in turn the company.

The third piece of advice is don’t quit your day job haha. Launching a company from scratch takes money. Building a company takes time. Even boot strapping a company takes more money than you would think. Keep your job and grind out what you can. Plan on working late nights, weekends, or any free time.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

The biggest hurdle we have faced is getting the word out there. We are a direct-to-consumer product. This means that we rely on social media and recurring customers to build our brand. Social media can be a noisy place to get your voice heard. Through patience and consistency, as well as a great product, we have been growing our community of Bloop users. We have worked with content creators and are always looking for angles to get our product out to more like-minded, eco-conscious consumers. Everybody that has tried Bloop has returned for more product. Bloop is Eco-luxury made by hand in small batches to ensure the perfect product that we can proudly stand behind.
