Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trish John. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Trish, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
My Journey to Finding Purpose through Feng Shui
I found my purpose young in life, though I didn’t understand it at the time. Drawn to people’s energy, I felt a strong urge to help others. I was naturally organized and loved redecorating any room I could get my hands on. As I grew older, I began to see spirits, an experience I couldn’t explain and kept to myself for a long time.
Initially, I believed becoming a teacher was the best way to help others. Despite doing well in school, I didn’t feel “smart” enough, so I followed in my mother’s footsteps and became a receptionist. I held various office jobs but never felt truly fulfilled, even though I was helping people.
In my early twenties, I stumbled upon a book on feng shui. At that time, most feng shui books focused on Compass feng shui, which I found hard to grasp. Eventually, I discovered Black Sect Tantric Buddhist feng shui, and everything clicked. I couldn’t get enough of it.
Life took me on many journeys. I fell in love, moved to Hawaii, got married, moved to California, and had two amazing children. Becoming a mother felt like my true purpose, and I loved being a full-time wife and mom.
As my children grew older, I continued to study feng shui. I also discovered the professional world of organizing, which excited me. In 2005, I launched my business, “Room to Room Organizing,” and enjoyed helping others. However, I still felt something was missing and remained drawn to feng shui. In 2008, I registered for a feng shui course, and my life changed. I knew this was my calling.
In 2019, I separated from my husband and continued my journey in life. My passion for feng shui grew, leading me to take an advanced course in 2015. In 2020, I expanded my expertise by completing an interior decorating course. Today, I am a feng shui practitioner, professional organizer, and interior decorator.
My purpose has always been to help others. Now, I fulfill this by helping my clients create homes and workspaces that nurture their well-being.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three key qualities and areas of knowledge have been most impactful in my journey:
Intuition and Sensitivity to Energy – Trusting Your Intuition: Learn to trust your gut feelings. They often provide valuable insights that rational thinking might overlook.
Organizational Skills – Learn Techniques: Read books or take courses on decluttering and organizing. Applying these techniques consistently will improve your skills over time.
Continuous Learning and Adaptability – Embrace Change: Be open to new ideas and approaches. Adaptability is key in a dynamic field where trends and client preferences constantly evolve.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
There have been a few books that have played an important role in my development but the top 5 are:
1) Move your Stuff, Change your Life by Karen Rauch Carter (made understanding and learning feng shui easier)
2) You are the Placebo by Dr. Joe Dispensa (understanding that we create our own health issues by our thoughts)
3) Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain (learning how to use visualization to create your life)
4) Worthy – Boost your self-worth to grow your net worth by Nancy Levin (the connection between self worth & money)
5) Esther & Jerry Hicks – any of their books as I’ve probably read them all. lol (understanding how the Laws of Attraction works and how to apply it to your own life)
