We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Trish Korte a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Trish, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Marc and I found that a lot of the products we used on our bodies were filled with unnecessary ingredients and chemicals that would also react negatively with our skin. We wanted to create products that were made with natural and quality ingredients. Additionally, as busy parents, it was hard for us to find time to connect with our spirituality like we used to. We wanted to be able to incorporate magic into our everyday life. So, we decided to create Luna & Co. with the purpose of crafting products with clean ingredients while also using them as tools to incorporate your magic through the art of self-care. What began as a personal passion for crafting natural soaps and oils evolved into a calling to share these creations with others who also want to incorporate rituals into their everyday lives. By aligning our products with astrological and mystical influences, we found a way to merge artistry, spirituality, and practicality—transforming ordinary routines into acts of empowerment. This mission became our purpose: to bring magick into the mundane through affordable, intentional self-care.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have been married to Marc for 6 years, with our greatest joys being our two boys, ages 5 and 3. Before going on maternity leave and becoming a stay at home mom, I worked for a firm as an attorney. I definitely never thought I had creative bone in my body. But I did find myself being drawn to root work and herbalism. Marc, co-owner and soap-maker, works in IT. He is also a musician in his spare time. Marc practices ceremonial and planetary magic rooted in hermeticism and Qabalah. Together, our shared spirituality and love for intentional living inspired the creation of Luna & Co. Soapery.
What began as a personal passion for creating products that nourish both the skin and the soul quickly grew into something much more meaningful. Marc finds peace and mindfulness in the soap-making process, while I’ve discovered a creative spark I never knew I had through designing scents, packaging, and aesthetics. Every product is crafted with care and intention—to promote self-care, balance, and a touch of everyday magic.
Our name, Luna & Co., holds deep meaning for us. The very first soap we ever made was a moon-themed bar, and our beloved cat, Luna—whose name also means “moon”—became our inspiration and mascot. After she passed away, we chose to keep her as part of our brand and logo, as a loving tribute to her and the light she brought into our lives.
Opening our brick-and-mortar shop felt like the natural next step in our journey. We wanted to create a space where people could experience the energy and beauty of our products firsthand—a warm, welcoming place that feels like a sanctuary for self-care and spirituality. Our dream is for Luna & Co. to be more than a store—it’s a reflection of love, creativity, and the magic we hope to share with others.
It makes us happy to see people connect with our creations. When someone tells us how much they love a scent or how a product made their day a little brighter, it reminds us why we started—to bring a bit of beauty and magic into people’s daily rituals.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, we’d say the three most impactful qualities in our journey have been curiosity, perseverance, and balance.
Curiosity is what started it all — the desire to learn, experiment, and blend our spiritual practices with something tangible and beautiful. Neither of us came from a background in soapmaking or product design, but curiosity pushed us to explore, research, and create without fear of failure. For anyone starting out, we’d say: let your curiosity guide you, even when you’re unsure where it will lead.
Perseverance has been equally important. Building a business while raising two young children and managing full-time careers hasn’t been easy. There were and still are moments when we question ourselves or face challenges that feel overwhelming. But staying consistent, even when progress is slow, has taught us that growth takes time — and every small step counts.
Finally, balance has been the key to keeping our passion alive. Luna & Co. is not just about making soap; it’s about maintaining harmony — between work and family, creativity and structure, the practical and the spiritual. Our advice to others would be to nurture all parts of yourself along the way. Success feels much fuller when it comes from a place of alignment and joy. Make sure to also take time for yourself especially when you feel burned out and accept help when it is offered.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes, we’re always open to collaborating with others who share our passion for creativity, intention, and holistic living. We especially love connecting with people and businesses who offer unique or spiritually inspired services, or who are passionate about herbalism and holistic wellness. One of our goals is to bring more awareness to the natural power of herbs — not only for skincare but also for self-care and spiritual connection.
We also create custom soaps and oils for weddings, baby showers, and handfasting ceremonies, and we offer our products wholesale for shops and practitioners who align with our values. If you’re interested in partnering with us, you can reach out through our website at lunacosoap.com or connect with us on Instagram @lunacosoap. We’d love to explore ways to create something magical together.
