Meet Trishanna Cohen

We were lucky to catch up with Trishanna Cohen recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Trishanna, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

Being the only one in the room? I remember this being a method of stage fright , but gosh okay. Only one in the room that looks like me? I learned to be effective being the only one in the room by leaning on my confidence . I may look how I look you know in the model world. Short, Curvy, Thick , Darkskin model. A person you don’t see everyday in those big model rooms. The key to being successful and still pushing through to the level of success I desire is by being unapologetically me. Just being and embracing me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a model and also a dancer. I feel the most special thing about working in these career fields is that it allows me to be me. I’m a creative. I can express myself throughout my work and create the most beautiful thing seen. I’ve danced all my life , but started modeling around 2019. Taking steps in the modeling field thanks to the great individuals who pushed me because they saw a glow in myself that I didn’t know I had at the time. My main focus? Especially this year in a professional aspect is to climb into modeling rooms a model like me barely reaches , but I know I will be in all those big rooms by the end of the year

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

3 most important qualities of modeling??
CAP of course. Confidence, Attitude and Posture. Learning these from my amazing coaches impacted my journey the most . Confident in myself because if you’re not your biggest fan or supporter than how do you expect everyone else to be too. Attitude? You walk in that room like you own it and now that gig is yours. Posture? You stand straight and head up. My advice is to never doubt yourself or question if they will choose you, you go in like you already have it with the most respect

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

I’m someone who overthinks and has anxiety so I tend to get very overwhelmed sometimes. I take the time to address what’s causing me to be overwhelmed, I breathe and let myself know it’s a temporary feeling . I then meditate. Meditation has been so great in helping me.
