Meet Trista Ainsworth

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trista Ainsworth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Trista, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I have always been an eternal optimist. The origin of the lightness of my being is an innate sense of calm. Although I go through challenges, hard times, and grief, I know in my heart everything is going to be okay in the end. I can always see a solution even in the darkest hour, and optimism is one of my superpowers in life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a pastry chef at a local tea house called Skywater Tea House in Hillsboro, Oregon. The owner, Hans, and I create monthly menus for our afternoon tea guests. Coming up with new scones and desserts brings great joy to my heart. I love the calming art of taking tea, so I feel this job is an ideal fit. Early in the mornings, when we work on making all the food fresh for service, are my favorite moments, full of grace and possibility.

My business, Tempteations Treat Box, extends my love of baking to my loyal local fans. I specialize in gourmet cream scones in seasonal flavors. However, I often add more tea treats to my monthly menus. Customers can pre-order treat boxes and pick them up on baking day once a month.

I am excited to create something new in my business: monthly bake sales! I also enjoy baking sourdough bread, doughnuts, and other creations, so I want to offer limited amounts of these artisan baked goods.

Another of my loves in life is writing. I write on Medium as Trista Signe Ainsworth in my publication Optimism and Light. Writing one to two stories of positivity and life lessons for my audience each week makes my heart happy. I have been writing on Medium since 2020, and I greatly enjoy the sense of community with other writers and readers there.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Curiosity, positivity, and consistency are the keys to success for me. In my journey to discover my ideal career, my curiosity allowed me to try many different things, like teaching or professional organizing. I tried everything along the way to the best of my ability with a smile on my face.

Every step on your life journey will have challenges or roadblocks. Success means finding flow, joy, and happiness in my work.

My advice to others is to allow yourself to explore. Even if you need to work in areas you do not enjoy at first, find something you love about them and learn from the experience. Try small experiments in life, work, and business. It might lead you to something you did not consider before.

Most of all, remain positive. I believe each of us has a superpower. We possess a special recipe that nobody else can replicate. Finding those ingredients is the key to your best life.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I would love to connect with other creatives and makers. I dream of making a tea treat box with handmade gifts, hand-blended teas, and more. I would love help to develop these products and to ship them sustainably. Achieving balance in life is truly valuable, so I am looking for individuals with this same belief. I believe together, we can create something beautiful and meaningful.
