Meet Troy Jones

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Troy Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Troy below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Troy with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I watched my Momma work 3 jobs, raise me, take care of her responsibilities outside of work, nurture her relationships and accomplish her own goals all while facing the challenges this world threw at her. I watched, I studied & I absorbed. I get my work ethic from my Momma. Thank you Jerri Lee

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am the creator of Golzé Blon (@golzeblon) the world’s very first body batter. We are the first skincare brand to utilize soursop & its powerful properties.

I also created Veggie Nights La (@veggienightsla) graciously hosted at Boomtown Brewery in dtla.
This event gives small business an opportunity to vend, network & promote FOR FREE.
It’s an extremely difficult time economically, especially for small businesses. This event gives them an opportunity to make money without having to pay outrageous vending fees.
I’m extremely passionate about building community, enhancing camaraderie & being of service to my people while I’m here.
So when Ryan at Boomtown kindly presented me the opportunity, I knew I was the perfect person to make it happen. It’s important to me you know his name (Ryan Windish) he’s one of the kindest humans I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with and why this event can take place at Boomtown. Thank you Ryan.
This month’s event is 1-29-25. VGNLA takes place the last Wednesday of every month, feel free to come enjoy brews, music, games, food & some of the best small business vendors of La. We’d love to have you.
Along with Golzé Blon & VGNLA, I am also debuting my 1st EP (Child of Jerri Lee). A brand new sound that is thought provoking & will inspire both movement & feeling alive.
My documentary “No White Sugar” will be debuting this year. What you can expect to see in this doc is my journey of losing 300lbs naturally, coming thru the grief of losing both my Mother & Father, reconnecting with my family, starting my businesses & being able to find my voice again.
I’m extremely excited to show the world me … I am Troy Jones

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1) Take care of yourself. Get out into the sunlight, let your bare feet touch soil, eat from the garden of the earth, stay hydrated, laugh, play, create & love on yourself … relentlessly.

2) Find what truly brings you joy. What adds to your happiness? Do you see a problem in the world that you know you can fix? Are you able to turn it into a career? If so, mix all those ingredients together like a yummy gumbo & you’ll be able to eat your favorite meal for the rest of your life.

3) Understand you are truly one of a kind. Look at your hands, look at your fingertips. Really look at them. Out of the 8+ billion people that exist, you are the only one with those specific designs. Even if you are born a twin, your fingerprints are yours alone. That means you were specifically designed as one of a kind, we will never get another one of you. You are the only one. Your fingerprints are keys that will unlock the door to your ultimate self. Only you can walk thru that door. It’s such a thing to behold, to know that you exist in this very moment & are blessed with this experience in finding out what you were brought here to unlock. Anytime you feel discouraged or need reminding, look at them, study them, then look to the sky.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

For me, this is such an interesting question.

If I were to put it plainly, I would start off by saying God is my source & I’m extremely grateful for this experience I have been given here on earth.

My Momma is my foundation, the lessons & experiences she bestowed upon me are truly invaluable. I can go anywhere, accomplish anything & truly trust myself bcuz of her. Thank you Momma

I am blessed with a tribe of powerful black wombyn that have each contributed their own unique knowledge, love & nourishment into my journey in such a short time. Each one has such a beautiful heart, strong mind & a special soul that helps water my garden. Tiffany, TT Marci, Auntie Connie, TT Kenya, Grandma, Thank you & I love you.

Along my journey I have come across incredible people that have taught me a lesson. Some lessons are lovely, some lessons are tough, but whatever the lessons, I have been happy to learn them. Thank you
