Meet Trumaine Epps

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Trumaine Epps. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Trumaine, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
DJ Tab’s journey has never been about proving people wrong — it’s been about proving himself right. In an industry where doubt and criticism are constant, he’s learned to turn negativity into motivation. Every “no” became fuel, every hater became a silent fan, and every setback turned into a setup for something greater.

He stays focused by remembering why he started — the love of music, the passion for creating moments that move people, and the purpose that’s bigger than approval. DJ Tab doesn’t chase validation; he builds legacy. Through discipline, faith, and relentless work ethic, he’s shown that consistency always outlasts the noise.

At the end of the day, DJ Tab understands one simple truth: you can’t stop what’s built on purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
When it comes to energy, precision, and passion for music, DJ Tab is in a league of his own. The national touring DJ, producer, and media personality has become a powerhouse name in entertainment — but his story is about much more than music. It’s about purpose, persistence, and the power of connection.

“I’ve always believed that music isn’t just something you hear — it’s something you feel,” DJ Tab says. “The most exciting part for me is watching people from different walks of life come together through a single sound. That’s what keeps me inspired.”

Known for his dynamic performances and innovative mixes, DJ Tab has rocked everything from major festivals to intimate VIP events, bringing his signature blend of EDM, hip-hop, and house to audiences across the country. His ability to read a crowd and create unforgettable moments has made him one of the most in-demand DJs out of St. Louis — and beyond.

But DJ Tab’s brand extends far past the turntables. As a creative entrepreneur and marketing strategist, he’s built partnerships with his own company, Streetz 105.1 a radio station that Tab founded back in December of 2017 out of his second bedroom in his loft downtown which has now grown to having over 100,000 listeners a week and national brands, helping shape the culture behind music and lifestyle entertainment. His passion for empowering other creatives and pushing innovation forward is part of what makes his movement so impactful.

So, what’s next for DJ Tab? Plenty. Fans can look forward to Tab’s new edm single called, “alive” releasing in December which hey says is “grammy worthy’l major event collaborations, and even expansions into AI-powered entertainment and brand storytelling. He’s constantly finding new ways to evolve and inspire others to do the same.

When asked what he wants people to know most about his journey, DJ Tab doesn’t hesitate:

“No matter how many obstacles or doubters come your way, stay locked in. Consistency always beats the noise. You can’t stop what’s built on purpose.”

With a mindset like that, it’s clear — DJ Tab isn’t just spinning records. He’s spinning legacy. Tab is also set to release his own Natural Spring Bottle Water company “Oasis Aqua” by the end of 2025, partnering with his long time child hood friend of 20 plus years, Tony Wolfolk. Oasis Aqua is set to hit stores and online by Christmas. DJ Tab is also set to release his first book titled “Love A Ring & Betrayal” based off the true event between him and his ex-fiancé which should be available in hardback, paperback and audio through amazon and his website by late 2026.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When DJ Tab reflects on his journey, three core qualities stand out as the most impactful to his growth and longevity in the music and entertainment industry: consistency, adaptability, and vision.

1. Consistency

“The biggest difference between those who make it and those who don’t isn’t talent — it’s consistency,” DJ Tab says.
From long nights in the studio to early mornings on the road, DJ Tab has learned that staying consistent through the highs and lows builds character and credibility. “Even when no one’s watching, your work ethic should speak louder than your words. Consistency builds momentum, and momentum builds success.”

Advice: For those just starting out, focus on small daily actions. Show up for your craft even when it’s uncomfortable or unrewarding. Over time, your consistency will separate you from everyone chasing shortcuts.

2. Adaptability

“The industry changes fast. What worked five years ago won’t work tomorrow. You have to keep evolving.”
DJ Tab credits his willingness to learn new skills, embrace new platforms, and merge music with marketing and technology as a major reason he’s stayed relevant. From radio and live events to AI-driven creativity, he’s always been ahead of the curve.

Advice: Don’t get stuck on one formula. Learn marketing, branding, and technology as much as you study your art. The more tools you have, the more unstoppable you become.

3. Vision

“You can’t hit a target you can’t see. Vision keeps you grounded when life throws distractions your way.”
For DJ Tab, success started with believing in something bigger than the moment. He’s always focused on long-term impact — not just viral fame. “Everything I do has to align with purpose. That’s what builds legacy.”

Advice: Take time to define your “why.” Know what you want your brand or art to stand for. Once your vision is clear, every move you make will have direction and power.

Final Words from DJ Tab:

“Don’t rush your process. Master your consistency, stay open to change, and protect your vision. It’s not about proving people wrong — it’s about proving yourself right.”

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
“The most impactful thing my parents ever did for me was teach me discipline and belief,” DJ Tab says. “They showed me early that talent alone isn’t enough — you have to have character, consistency, and faith.”

Growing up, DJ Tab watched his parents, his mother Senta Johnson a retired 27 year bus driver for Metro Saint Louis and his little sister who is Nestle Corporation east coast HR manager, work hard, stay committed, and never make excuses — lessons that became the foundation of his grind. “They didn’t just tell me to chase my dreams; they taught me how to work for them. My dad showed me what resilience looks like, and my mom reminded me to keep God and humility at the center of everything I do” and my little sister who looks up to me just as much as Tab looks up to her.

Those lessons shaped how DJ Tab moves today — grounded, focused, and purpose-driven. “Even when things got tough or people doubted me, I could still hear my parents’ voices reminding me to stay locked in. That foundation kept me from breaking when life tried to bend me.”

In his words:

“The best gift they gave me wasn’t money or opportunity — it was mindset. They made me believe that if you put in the work and keep your heart right, anything is possible.”
