Meet Txm 247

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Txm 247. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with TXM below.

TXM, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

I appreciate the haters and the nay-sayers when they are valid. If they are just hating to hate then it’s fun to prove them wrong.

The longer that you keep going, the easier persisting becomes. You learn your music and style is not for everyone and that is OK. Just find the people who are rocking with you and go from there.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a rapper based in Washington, D.C., combining infectious melodies with addictive timing and delivering it all through a microphone at nightclubs across the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. My performances have also taken me to stages in Miami, Los Angeles, and the Space Coast, with invitations to perform across the United States. Sharing my music in real time and receiving live feedback is an exhilarating experience. Unlike many artists who start with minimal audience engagement, performing in front of a crowd gives me immediate insights invaluable for growth and refinement.

What makes performing even more thrilling is the unpredictability of the audience. Sometimes, the response is lukewarm, but other times, strangers start singing my lyrics to me—a moment that shows me exactly which songs resonate with the crowd. It’s a unique way to gauge which tracks work best for different audiences.

The DMV hip-hop scene is exhilarating because it’s a place of raw honesty—if the music isn’t good, the audience won’t hold back. That challenge pushes me to constantly bring my best, making every performance a chance to grow and connect.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Not giving AF

This is the most important skill to have because while there are good days, there are also many bad days, and you have to be resilient to get through them. Many factors outside of your control can impact how you move and perform, and you have to be able to brush them aside and keep on going to fulfill your mission.

2. Storytelling

Storytelling is crucial because you need to be interesting to get people interested. If something just sounds good, it will most likely be played and then forgotten about. However, if something sounds good and has a message that resonates with you, you are more likely to remember it. Developing the storytelling skill is how you can put out a message, and it helps you in all aspects of life.

3. Connecting with other people
When I graduated from the 8th grade in Green Acres School, we put up our class quilt with the message, “Go fast, go alone, Go far, go together.” Until recently, I have completely ignored that advice and tried to do everything on my own. While I was going fast, performing many new songs, and creating a tiny buzz for myself, there were many factors I was missing, like how to market myself or how to speak to the audience. It wasn’t until I connected with someone who has worked with rappers that I am trying to be like that I realized having a solid team is important. I have also been fortunate to connect and make music with other Rappers from various backgrounds, enhancing the music’s quality. In the future, I look forward to connecting with other Rappers within the DMV and people in the music industry worldwide.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I seek innovative creatives in the DMV area with whom to collaborate and build something extraordinary. I aim to connect with rappers, designers, video editors, writers, and musicians who are passionate about their craft and eager to create impactful work. As an Indian-American artist, I’m particularly excited about finding others from similar backgrounds who share a desire to tell unique stories, challenge norms, and make magic through art.

Representation matters, and I believe that when we bring our diverse experiences and perspectives together, we can craft something compelling that resonates on both a personal and universal level. Whether creating a music video that tells a compelling story, designing visuals that amplify the message, or co-writing songs that capture untold narratives, I want to collaborate with people ready to push boundaries and take creative risks.

If you’re a creative in the DMV area who wants to connect, innovate, and create something unforgettable, let’s connect. Together, we can redefine what’s possible. I also have music that we can get creative. Check out White Tiger Studio on Instagram @WhiteTigerStudio_
