We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ty Little. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ty below.
Ty, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
At BlueRobin we just try our best to immerse ourselves in as many different things as we can so we can remain radically open-minded. I believe when you’re radically open-minded, you give yourself the opportunity to discover creative concepts you can’t unlock without the open-mindedness. When dealing with brands, you have to have this approach to all possibilities.
In the U.S, we’ve created a work culture of shooting ideas down with no alternative solution. When I first started in the advertising business, one of my first lessons as a producer was to present a solution to our creatives if we decided to push back on one of their ideas. Helping them get to the solution rather than critiquing why it can’t work seemed to make more sense to me.
Personally, I’ll expose myself to as many different worlds and perspectives as I can. I get out, speak to people, and try to stay on top of what’s going on culturally.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Right now is an exciting time for the agency. We’re expanding our team to prepare to take on larger clients and really focusing on being a great company with strong relationships, fundamentals, and replicable systems. We’re diving deeper into the A.I the space and developing new services, we’ll be able to offer existing clients to deepen our competitive advantage in our market.
With the major agency mergers and volatile economy, we’re extremely optimistic when it comes to bringing in new business, so it’ll be fun to see what these next few months bring.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe having the self-awareness to know when to assemble a team is an important quality to have. As the leader, you can’t handle the workload by yourself. And trying to do so will only result in you delivering mediocre work. After that, having the skills to build relationship equity with people and becoming a master of your craft is also top of the list for me. You have to know what you’re talking about and how the business works because if not, you’ll end up limiting the level you can work at.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We’re getting into CTV, so we need a specialist who understands that field, and we are also looking to attract more creative directors. We’re always open to bringing in new talent and connecting with new people. I usually tell people to connect with me on LinkedIn.
