Meet Tyler Blair

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tyler Blair. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tyler below.

Hi Tyler, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

When I first joined Square Roots, a farming tech startup in Brooklyn, NY co-founded by Kimbal Musk, I was eager yet apprehensive. The company was preparing to launch a major partnership in the Midwest, and as part of my onboarding, I was sent to New York for an intensive, month-long training session.

At the time, I was carrying the weight of imposter syndrome. My previous job had been installing underground sprinklers—essentially digging in the dirt. I felt out of place in this innovative environment, surrounded by cutting-edge technology and methodologies I barely understood. Who was I, a guy from the Midwest, to step into this world of forward-thinking agtech?

But instead of letting self-doubt paralyze me, I embraced the challenge. I focused on what I could control: showing up every day with curiosity, working hard, and committing to growth. I accepted what I couldn’t change about my past and zeroed in on the skills I could build in the present.

In hindsight, the imposter syndrome became a catalyst for self-improvement. It wasn’t about whether or not I truly belonged—what mattered was recognizing my strengths and weaknesses and striving to be better each day. The realization was simple yet profound: as long as you’re committed to growth and not content with being an imposter, you’re not one.

The journey wasn’t just about proving myself to others; it was about proving to myself that I could rise to the occasion. And that lesson has stayed with me, fueling my work and personal growth to this day.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience, perseverance, and humility have been the cornerstones of my entrepreneurial journey. Resilience has helped me navigate setbacks and adapt to challenges, knowing that every failure holds a lesson. Perseverance has driven me to push forward, even when the path seemed uncertain, fueled by a belief in the mission and the people I serve. Humility has kept me grounded, reminding me to listen, learn, and seek guidance from others who share the vision of building something meaningful. Together, these qualities have shaped not only my business but also my character, allowing me to grow alongside the challenges I face.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Over the past few years, the Bible has become an incredibly influential book in my life and my entrepreneurial journey. Although I grew up in a fairly religious area and absorbed some Christian ideas, I had never truly studied it. When I finally approached it with the same curiosity I once had for Greek philosophy, it opened a world of insight and perspective. The communities centered around it deepened my understanding, and its stories—filled with profound lessons—proved as relevant today as ever. At its heart, the Bible is the greatest love story ever told, and its wisdom has inspired both my personal growth and the values that guide my work.
