We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyler Logsdon / “T Log” – Artist Name. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tyler, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose by winning the internal battle I had within myself of trying to figure life out. I won that battle by looking to the cross. Once I realized that I was fleeting where I wasn’t comfortable, and I understood there was a disconnect between my heart and my head… I found my purpose. What I mean by that is I had approached life as a 19-20 year old college kid with giving God praise and acknowledgment in my head knowledge of Him and with my audible words. The problem with that is that there was a disconnect between my mouth and brain and my heart. Once I understood in my heart the truth of my salvation, my true purpose was born into my comprehension. Simply put, I stand with Paul as my purpose is to simply know Christ, have righteousness obtained from faith in Him, and share that with the world.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Christian Rap Artist & Preacher. I’d say the most significant thing about what I’ve been blessed with in getting to create and pursue this professional career of the ministry is watching the ways in which God has changed lives through what I’m doing. It’s so cool to me as a songwriter specifically, because I get to simply create music around love letters/praise that I just write to God expressing myself and releasing my emotions, and then watch others be impacted by that! I’m an independent artist, and I really like it that way. It gives me full freedom and control of ministering how I want to. I’m excited to see how God allows me to steward all of this as a career and support myself and family.

Some exciting news I have is that my next song, “I’m Tired” will be releasing May 10th! I’m really pumped about this song. It’s probably the most real/unwarranted song I’ve written. I really come at myself and pastors, rappers, Christians in general. It’s a very vulnerable song and I think it will convict many and grow many in their faith as it has my own. Basically I’m tired of Christians living hypocritical lives, including myself.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’d say that so far the 3 most impactful stances on my journey are surrender, patience, and dedication to meaning.

My best advice for anyone navigating their own journey in relation to these things would have to be this:

– Surrender all that you do to God because everything you have was His in the first place. There’s something so special and humbling about knowing that you can worship God my sacrificing everything to him.!

– Have patience with yourself, those around you, and everything that is to come. Trust yourself, and the calling that has been placed on your life. Don’t try to rush into success or out of problems. Also, don’t become so comfortable that you attain complacency. Rather, just patiently be active and obedient to God and trust that He’s working it out.

– Dedicate yourself to the meaning of why you’re doing what you’re doing. If you get in a slump or begin to doubt yourself; take a deep breath, reevaluate, and dedicate yourself to everything that you’ve got going on, even when it sucks. Success lies right on the other side of difficulty.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Genuinely, I pray. Prayer is so powerful. I would just say that when you feel overwhelmed to take a deep breath, go to a place where it’s just you and God, and talk to Him. Thats what has helped me
