Meet Tyler Martina

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tyler Martina. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Tyler, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
When it comes to finding your “purpose”, and I believe the majority of people overthink it. They think that one day they will just be overcome by this unstoppable passion that will bring meaning to their life. But, the truth is, that’s not what a purpose is.

Your purpose is simple, and we have all known it since we were children. It is the same for everyone, to help others. That’s it. It is that simple. If you focus on that you can’t go wrong.

I get it, there will be a lot of people out there saying “no, it’s not that simple.” Let me assure you it is.

People are social animals, we’re made to work together. Alone, we are not the strongest, the fastest, the (insert any other attribute). You could argue that we are the smartest, but this “smartness” can also be a detriment to our success. I.e. living life not doing much because you can’t find your “purpose “. Either way, even if we are the smartest person in the world, we can’t really do much alone. We only do great things together.

This is what sets us a part from other animals, our ability to work with one another to do amazing things. That is why our purpose, all of us, is to help others. I promise, if you stop thinking about making yourself happy, and focus on helping others, you will be happy, fulfilled, and living your purpose.

Here is a fun way to check this. Think of someone you love smiling right now. Imagine making them smile using your mind, think about you flooding their mind with happy thoughts, try to make them overwhelmed with happiness. Now, how do you feel? Happy! It’s that easy.

Now finding the best way to help others is a different story. But, if you focus on how you can best help others, I promise, things will start to fall into place.

Now that you know, quit wasting your time. Go out there, and live your purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have multiple businesses under my umbrella, and they all have one thing in common: They are successful because they help people.

Not only that, but they also all give back to the community. Just this past year, Mr. Inkwells (my tattoo and piercing shop), gave back nearly over $10,000 to various community organizations. And I think that is a bigger part of being a business, being able to give back.

Other than Mr. Inkwells, I also run: Pillohh.com , LiveFreeDieWell.com, IsleKey.com, as well has helping many others.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My top skills that were able to help me be successful are:

Love of learning. If you want to grow, you need to learn. In today’s age where information is available everywhere for basically free, people have no excuse for not pursuing their dreams.

Ability to put myself in others shoes. Whether it’s a coworker, a client, a child, are anyone else, the ability to see things from their point of view is invaluable. Being able to do this will help understand the best way to communicate with them, and help them, in turn making you more successful.

Fortitude. The ability to press on and not give up is also something that is a must to be a successful person. There are always going to be obstacles in your way. The trick is, to turn those obstacles into opportunities. Opportunities for growth, to learn, and make yourself stronger. Then, continue to push forward more well prepared than you started.

I think if you focus on these 3 things you will be way ahead of the curve, and success will be well within your grasp.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Whenever I feel a bit overwhelmed by life, there is a simple strategy I use to relax.

I just think of how silly it all is. Nothing is that big of deal. The person who makes it a big deal is you. The person that makes it not a big deal is the same person, you!

It is your choice to feel overwhelmed. If you do not want to feel that way then don’t.
