Meet Tyler Middendorf

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyler Middendorf a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tyler, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I think my work ethic comes from a combination of factors. First, I’ve always been driven by a sense of personal responsibility, I like knowing that I’ve done my best, no matter the outcome. I also grew up around people who valued hard work and perseverance, so that mindset was instilled in me early on. Seeing others put in the effort and push through challenges really motivated me to do the same.

In addition, I think there’s a lot of satisfaction in setting goals and seeing the progress toward them. That sense of accomplishment keeps me going, even when things get tough. It’s like building momentum, once you start, it’s easier to keep going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Hey there, my name is Tyler MIddendorf. I’m originally from the beautiful state of Kentucky (and yes, no accent—though I promise it’s there in spirit), I’ve made my way to Los Angeles, bringing over 18 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of creating and producing unique events and experiences across the country. Some of the incredible partners I’ve worked with include Universal Studios, Warner Bros., MTV, Netflix, iHeartRadio, and Apple.

Photography has always been my true passion. It’s more than just capturing moments—it’s about telling stories and freezing time in a way that resonates with people. I love working with new environments and fresh perspectives, using the lens to highlight the unique elements that make each project special.

I’m passionate about collaboration, and I thrive on working with others to bring creative ideas to life.

Let’s connect and create some unforgettable, iconic moments through the power of photography!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Throughout my photography journey, I’ve found that patience, planning, and passion have been incredibly impactful in shaping the work I do today. Patience is essential, not just in capturing the perfect shot, but in understanding the process, the people, and the environment around me. Sometimes, the best moments come when you least expect them, and waiting for those perfect details requires both focus and endurance. Planning, on the other hand, allows me to approach each shoot with a clear vision, ensuring that I’m prepared to capture everything I need while staying flexible to the unexpected. And of course, passion has been the driving force behind everything. It fuels my dedication to continually learn, push creative boundaries, and ultimately tell stories through my lens that are meaningful and impactful. Together, these skills have made my journey not only successful but also deeply fulfilling.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m always on the lookout for people who are eager to collaborate and create something special, whether it’s a professional portrait session or an intimate boudoir shoot. My goal is to work with individuals who are passionate about making great images together, no matter the concept or style. I believe that the best work happens when there’s a shared vision and a collaborative energy that flows between the photographer and the subject. So whether you’re looking to capture a powerful, professional image or explore a more personal, intimate moment, I’m excited to bring your ideas to life and create something memorable. Let’s work together to make some stunning visuals that we can both be proud of!
