Meet Tyler Rayn

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tyler Rayn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tyler, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I feel like music chooses people & it found me at an early age while listening to my Grandfather play the steel guitar. I couldn’t get over how beautiful it sounded so i would go home and try to hum little parts he would play me. I was always a little afraid of singing in front of people when i was younger thought. I would sing something people would get this look on their face like “whoa where did that voice come from” and it would freak me out a little. I was always kind of a shy kid and I sang because I loved to do it and to this day I still stand by that… doing what you love. I believe the universe sends us lots of gifts in life but few of them actually manifest into passions like mine did. My purpose is songwriting and performing for those who are willing to listen to my stories. I also love how a song & good show can completely change someone’s mood from negative to positive & make into their memory bank for life. Being willing to listen when your higher power sends you a sign that something is for you is key. I tried to quit music several times because of the difficult road it can bring but I just couldn’t do it. I believe the music chose me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Tyler Rayn has a voice that can make you feel. His mix of modern pop production, powerhouse vocals, and vulnerable songwriting display a sonic profile of an artist that very much knows who they are. Most recently, Rayn’s “Deceiver” has charted the iTunes pop charts & has went viral on Tik Tok. Tyler’s pride anthem “We Are One,” released in April 2022, instantly became a Top 20-charting hit in the U.S. and went Top 10 on the U.K.’s all-genre iTunes Chart. A Nashville-based musician and two-time American Idol Contestant who grew up listening to Mariah Carey , Whitney Houston and George Michael, Tyler’s knack for blending genres is more than evident in his original songs, like the reggae-infused “BTW,” and soulful covers, like his heart-wrenching take on Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own.” With creativity embedded in his DNA, Tyler feels at home in the studio where experimentation comes naturally, and he’s excited for that dynamic energy to be heard on his forthcoming debut full-length studio album. His new single “Like This” will be slated for release this September on all Music Platforms.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

If I could give my younger self 3 pieces of advice it would be

1) to look at failure as a major part of the process & it’s absolutely vital for success and growth. A no will always lead you to a yes. As long as you get up & put in the work the universe will notice you & give you back even more.

2) Be grateful for what you have now and stop waiting to be happy. You create the world you live in with your outlook on life.

3) Help others when you have been there before… we all need advice and guidance in life & it’s great to pass it along to people especially the younger generations coming up. It makes the world a better place. Plus you might learn something from them & it will help you realize how far you’ve come. Keep going!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Diana Meltzer is an A&R Executive who has always been there for me to check in on me through the good and the bad! I appreciate her so much & she has always believed in my talent from Day 1. It’s always great to get a call from someone telling you “Get you ass up! You’re a star and don’t let anyone else tell you different”. Plus I just love the loud New York accent over the phone. She’s a hoot. Sometimes when we are burnt at both ends in life – all we need is for one person to believe we can & we too start to believe it again.
