Meet Tylur Jordan

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tylur Jordan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tylur, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Well, when you go through what I have been through at such a young age as a homosexual African American male it’s almost like I didn’t have a choice but to adopt it. I knew early on what I wanted to do in life and who I wanted to be and that just being who I was would cause some turbulence along the journey. So many doors have been slammed in my face and I’ve Gained accustomed to the word no and refusing to take those “No’s” I chose to persevere by any means necessary in order to reach and accomplish all of my goals.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a creative- that’s who I am and what I do. Yes, I do art so many people would consider me as an Artist but I feel as if I don’t just fit into one category. I’ve always been told in my life that I need to pick one thing and stick to it but why? Why should I only use one of the many gifts that god has bestowed on me? When there’s more than enough room for me to explore each and every aspect and avenue of who I am. So I go by Tylur the Creative because I’m bigger than just art and there’s so much more to who I am. I’ve been doing all forms of art since I could remember. My mom sculpted my singing voice and got me involved in plays, as well As groomed my artistic talent Such as drawing, My uncle “RD” got me into shoe customizing by showing me how he could customize Air forces using just a pen, I picked up up my first camera when I was 15 and explored that on my own learning all the ways of the lens, and so on. It took a village to mold me and make me who I am and I’m glad I had people around me be that village.

I have so much new content coming via Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms with no signs of slowing down. This is what I was meant to do who I’m meant to be.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back I could say that the three most important qualities that I possessed that were most impactful to my journey were being hungry for knowledge, being a Divergent thinker, and being Different.

The Advice I have for people who are having a hard time in general is to Be Unique, never be afraid to grow, make mistakes, and Learn.

We are in an era when the battle of uniqueness is rampant, No one wants to be their own person, and if they do choose to be they are often criticised by their peers in & community.
But I’m telling you it gets better be who to be who you truly are meant to be and go out learn, create, love, and persevere amongst all the odds!

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Woah that’s a loaded question, Well I’ve done a lot of growing as a Creative in the past year. My artistry has reached new heights and has honestly taken me by surprise because if I can be honest I didn’t think I wanted to continue doing current avenues because of everything that came with it. I honestly get emotional when I think about where I used to be and how I had fallen out of love with who I am. It took some major healing to get here and I’m glad to be back! Now I feel invincible and no amount of doubt or self-sabotage can Stop this train! All aboard to new and greater things!
