Meet Tynaisha Barnes

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tynaisha Barnes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tynaisha, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I tell myself there are people who enjoy seeing the content that I make and look forward to seeing that content and I would hate to let my negative thoughts get in the way of that.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a wife and mom of two who is expecting her third and I am a content creator who enjoys creating content surrounded by motherhood, faith, and recipes. I love cooking and sharing new and affordable recipes that the family can enjoy. I also enjoy sharing my faith as a Christian mom. I have shared my journey from being a first time mom, to a mom with two under two, to a mom who is pregnant with multiple children. I have been creating content for over 3 years now and have been blessed to have a community of other moms who get me. I am also not an “aesthetic” mom which is fine because I feel like social media has glamorized perfection and aesthetics and we tend to forget that there are normal and relatable people out there as well. Along with content creation, I do User Generated Content (UGC) which means that I create content for brands to use on their social media channels and my highest viewed video was actually 1.3M views.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Just being myself and not “faking it till I make it”. Also, being genuine with others helps.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Usually when I am overwhelmed, its with being a mom. I have two small toddlers who need my attention around the clock while I am dealing with typical pregnancy things. Also, both of my toddlers are in different stages in their lives and I have to remind myself that this is our first time doing this and to give them and myself grace.
