Meet Tyranicorn

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tyranicorn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tyranicorn below.

Tyranicorn, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I had a strong work ethic instilled in me since I was a child. I was consistently challenged by my family to read, learn, and be a hard worker. They say, “you are who you surround yourself with.” Therefore, I try to connect with and be around individuals who are driven and successful, so that I am always putting my best foot forward.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a tattoo artist and business owner of Tyranicorn Tattoo LLC (https://www.tyranicorntattoo.com). My style of tattooing is a mixture of neo traditional, cartoon, watercolor, and color realism… but most people find me because of my bright, vibrant color work. My signature design is black linework with rainbow watercolor backgrounds.

I am excited to announce that as of March 1, 2025, I will be opening my own private tattoo studio in Wauwatosa, WI – the very first tattoo shop to come to Wauwatosa. I will also be the first and only woman-owned tattoo shop within city limits. I am super excited to launch my new private studio at Image Studios, who have been my champions for getting my business up and running.

Outside of tattooing, I enjoy building my Tyranicorn brand through t-shirts, stickers, hats, enamel pins, and other miscellaneous merchandise. I love doing art whether it is custom tattoos, pre-drawn designs, tattoo flash, or other side projects. I also offer graphic design services for small businesses who need assistance with their logos, business cards, website, brochures, and more.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The three areas of knowledge that have been most beneficial and impactful in my journey have been digital marketing, effective communication, and time management.

My advice for those who are looking to improve on their skills are to listen to podcasts, get a LinkedIn premium subscription for webinars, take a community college class or Pryor seminar, and do their due diligence searching for free tips/tricks online. Ask friends, family, former teachers/professors, community members, coworkers, or whoever else you know has a skill that you could benefit from to assist you. Know that you do not have to do everything by yourself – you can lean on others for assistance.

If you’re not sure how to do something related to your business, find someone in your area who has built a successful business and befriend them. You will absorb knowledge from the people you surround yourself with. If you’re unable to do something yourself, hire someone else to do the work where your skills lack. For example: If you’re bad at accounting or bookkeeping, hire someone else to do it – they will likely find things you’ve missed, and you’ll save yourself the headache later on.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who loves bright colors, watercolor tattoos, cartoon characters, glitter, and of course, tattoos! They would have had the Lisa Frank stationary when growing up and love reminiscing on 90’s and early 2000’s nostalgia. My client would be a fan of everything unicorn, dinosaur, and sparkles! Perhaps they like witchy or pastel goth themes; like to collect stickers, patches, or pins; or are a raver who loves everything EDM. They like to read, think dragons and mythological creatures are cool, and have played at least one video game before. My ideal client would think outer space is pretty neat and might fancy an alien or galaxy themed tattoo. Flowers, mushrooms, crystals, and plants are something they are fond of as well as beach themes and under the sea critters. When in doubt, my client would love animals – especially their pets – and would want to get a paw print of their cat or dog tattooed on them as a memorial piece.
