Meet Tyree Traylor

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tyree Traylor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tyree below.

Tyree, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Coming from Hawthorne and Compton CA a lot of individuals like myself weren’t well informed of the many opportunities around us, as I started to travel and wanted more for myself I developed a drive that led me to uncovering the immense opportunities as long as I put the work in, doing the same thing bad thing over and over expecting different results is insanity but developing good habits doing the same thing everyday is consistency in my eyes. Once I sat down by myself learning more about myself through different books, traveling from San Pedro to Santa Monica via bus for acting classes at 9am, taking every opportunity I seen, the positive work ethic developed on its own due to the drive of wanting more for myself due to my prior lifestyle in the inner city.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I started off making music and into that I thought if I incorporated modeling and acting into it I can go far. Background acting was the start and as I gained experience I took that and applied it to getting more feature roles and etc. Now I recently Associate Produced The Blank Theatre’s Young Playwrights Festival, covering 12 plays for 5 months, working with amazing talent from the young playwrights to the mentors, directors, and actors. I’m currently enrolled in school getting my Film Degree as well as mastering my abilities in animation and illustration.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Being teachable, having drive, and being patient.

There’s always gonna be more to learn at any moment of your life. You have to grab what you want, you can’t be complacent, taking time off, not trusting your ideas, and waiting for someone else. But being patient will get you to see the overall situation of what you have to do. Patience will not rattle you to give up. Patience will save you a lot of time and trouble with whatever you’re doing.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
