Meet Tyressia B

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tyressia B a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Tyressia, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

To keep my creativity alive, I immerse myself in experiences that inspire me. For instance, I stay up-to-date with design trends and marketing strategies by following industry leaders and exploring platforms like Behance and Pinterest. I also set aside time to experiment with new tools and techniques, as I believe hands-on learning helps me uncover fresh ideas.

I also find inspiration outside the digital space by engaging with different art forms, attending networking events, and collaborating with other creatives. These interactions often spark new perspectives and keep me motivated.

Finally, I prioritize self-care because a clear and rested mind is essential for creativity. Activities like journaling, hiking, or even just enjoying time with family and friends and most importantly some alone time with Jesus help me recharge and return to projects with renewed energy.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a digital marketing strategist and a brand and web designer, specializing in creating standout brand identities and strategies for individuals ready to scale their businesses. What excites me most about my work is the storytelling aspect—helping someone transform their vision into a brand that genuinely reflects who they are. The joy and confidence my clients feel when they see their ideas brought to life is what drives me.

I’ve recently completed the rebrand of my design agency, and it’s been an incredible journey refining my vision to better align with the values of creativity and connection that my brand represents. In addition to design, I’m also very passionate about building community and have created Elevate CoSpace, a networking platform where creatives can come together to collaborate and grow.

Right now, I’m focusing on expanding my workshops and webinars to empower more entrepreneurs and small business owners to create impactful brands. If you’re someone looking to bring your vision to life, I’d love to connect and explore how we can work together!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say three things have really shaped my journey: adaptability, creativity, and empathy.

Adaptability has been huge because things in this field change so fast. Whether it’s learning new tools or adjusting to unexpected challenges, being open to change has made all the difference. For anyone just starting out, I’d say don’t shy away from learning new things, even if they feel intimidating at first. Take it step by step—it’s all part of the process.

Creativity is at the heart of everything I do, not just in design but also in problem-solving. It’s about finding unique solutions and thinking outside the box. If you want to build your creativity, try new things, collaborate with others, and don’t worry about “messing up.” Some of my best ideas have come from experiments that didn’t work out the first time.

And then there’s empathy. This one is so important because understanding people—whether it’s your clients, audience, or team—is what makes your work meaningful. If you’re starting out, focus on listening and asking questions. The more you understand what someone needs or feels, the better you can create something that truly connects with them.

If I could give one piece of advice, it’d be to stay consistent. Even small steps add up over time, and your progress will come when you’re patient with yourself and open to learning along the way.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is pause and take a deep breath. It helps me step back and refocus. Spending alone time with Jesus is a big part of how I recharge during those moments. Praying, reflecting, or even just sitting quietly in His presence gives me a sense of peace and reminds me that I don’t have to carry everything on my own.

I also break things down into smaller tasks, which makes everything feel less overwhelming. Writing it all out helps me prioritize and see what’s really urgent versus what can wait.

Sometimes, I’ll talk things through with a friend preferably one who is also a creative or take a short break to do something calming like journaling or going for a walk. These moments of rest and reflection make it easier to get back on track.

My advice to anyone feeling overwhelmed is to take it one step at a time and lean on the things that bring you peace and strength. You don’t have to have it all figured out right away—give yourself grace.
