Meet Tyson Green

We were lucky to catch up with Tyson Green recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyson, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Growing up i was quite a laid-back individual with minimal drive and ambitions, but that all changed when i decided to join the military as a teenager, which completely shifted my mindset and gave me a more structured and motivated daily routine. So i’d say my time in the Army is where my work ethic came from.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As an author, screenwriter, director, and producer, I channel my passion for spreading mental health awareness through every project I undertake. Drawing from real-life experiences, I strive to create authentic and compelling stories that resonate deeply with audiences. By blending my diverse talents, I aim to craft works that not only entertain but also enlighten, fostering a greater understanding and empathy for mental health issues. My dedication to this cause drives me to connect with people on a profound level, using the arts as a powerful vehicle for change and awareness.

Recently my children’s book ‘Doc Green and the Mind Monsters’ was released on the Barnes and Noble website, and other leading retailers worldwide, which I’m very proud of, also my short film Trigger-ed will be featured as part of one of the UK’s largest University’s festivals with medical students, so my mission to spread mental health awarness is making good progression, in all the right places.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I believe the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are empathy, storytelling, and perseverance. Having gone through my own mental health challenges, empathy has allowed me to understand and convey the complexities of mental health with sensitivity and depth, making my work relatable and impactful.

My storytelling skills have been crucial in crafting narratives that not only captivate audiences but also foster awareness and understanding. Finally, perseverance has been essential in navigating the challenges of the creative industry and my personal struggles, enabling me to stay committed to my mission of spreading mental health awareness despite any obstacles I faced.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to first cultivate empathy by actively listening to and learning from others’ experiences, as well as reflecting on your own.

Understanding different perspectives will enrich your work and make it more impactful. To improve your storytelling skills, practice consistently—write every day, study various forms of narrative, and seek feedback from trusted peers. Remember, storytelling is a craft that gets better with time and dedication.

Lastly, develop perseverance by setting clear goals and staying committed to them, even when faced with setbacks. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and maintain a support system to help you through tough times. Your dedication to improving these areas will greatly enhance your ability to create meaningful and impactful work.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

The person who has been most helpful in helping me overcome challenges and build the essential skills, qualities, and knowledge I needed to be successful is my partner. Their unwavering support and understanding have been invaluable. They not only believe in my creative vision but also provide the emotional and practical support I need to navigate the ups and downs of this journey. Whether it’s offering a listening ear during tough times or encouraging me to push my creative boundaries, their partnership has been a cornerstone of my success. Having someone who truly understands and champions my work has made all the difference.

Shout out to Mrs G ❤️
