Meet Ugeneis Hines

We were lucky to catch up with Ugeneis Hines recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ugeneis , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Embrace your strangeness. Identify what makes you different. Fuse those things together and become an anomaly.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am very excited doing live shows in front of a large audience. A voice over actor using my unique voice in different scenic genres to engage the audience. I feel very fortunate and excited about my progress so far. As someone who was born with and overcame a speech impediment thru perverance and hard work.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
*Knowledge of Self*
Who are you? What are your aspirations?
*Confidence*
Look at the mirror everyday and talk to yourself and listen to yourself. Hear your voice, If needed record yourself and listen.
*Practice*
Get in the habit of doing repetitive things for muscle memory. To get better at anything you do it consistently everyday, there will be some good and bad moments or days, but preserve to become a pro.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I count to 10 very slowly to relax. Meditation….Meditation….Meditation. Step outside on a sunny day. Absorb as much of vitamin D as possible, get sunlight without wearing glasses or hat to get fully absorbing of Vitamin D naturally .
