Meet Ugly Josh

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ugly Josh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Ugly , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem by enduring tough times and also focusing on my passion and God built everything else around it naturally. It wasn’t overnight but it was a process.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Ugly Josh is a Generational Influencer that leads and inspires, and pushes Gen-Z to the next magnitude unlike never before. The bold, peculiar and icon Ugly Josh is a jack of all trades that does a lot to draw others to his brand called “UGLY”. Ugly means “U Gotta Love Yourself” or “Understanding God Loves You”. He accentuates others to be their true authentic self without any contradictions. He brings others’ visions to existence based on the light that shines brightly through him. A well known company called “UglyHosting” & “UglyJoshProductions” is where he does film production & music production for huge clients while also balancing hosting private and global events for celebrities. Ugly Josh is a man of valor that doesn’t try to prove his point for anyone and does it unapologetically and gracefully.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Consistency, Work ethic, Heart posture. The reason that I say these three is because these are one of the most important qualities in my opinion if you want to elevate in any type of way in life or pertaining to your career. One you must be consistent because you have heard the saying “hard work always pays off” although hard work might not be applicable, meaning if you work so consistently for the next 20 years (for an example. not saying you have to work to work 20 years straight) you have shown your consistency and work ethic for doing that work for a long time. With that being said there are days you are able to rest and still manage to be ahead without a huge workload ahead of you because you have worked for the last 20 years. Last but not least, heart posture. A great one! This is the most over skipped quality because people overlook the heart and judge the outward appearance. In times of culture that we live in today we are bound to get hurt if you’re not selective and careful of who you bring around you. People are bound to say careless things, do hurtful actions and even damage your personal image but you must have a great heart to withstand the “evil” ways of the nature of humans. Your heart posture means that your heart is in good standing. With what though, you may ask. When someone speaks bad about you in your face how do you react? Do you cuss at them and punch them in the face? Do you start up an argument? Or do you humbly walk away knowing that person’s heart posture isn’t right or in other words good? Everything flows from the heart. Majority of people may think the mind comes first but that is second! What a person says doesn’t come from their mind, it comes from their heart. Reread that sentence again. You probably heard the phrase “she or he has a great heart”! Meaning in shorter words that person is probably a caring individual. The phrase is not claiming that their heartbeat is better than anybody else or that it’ is shining bright. It’s a metaphor showing that they’re heart is lining up with their actions and that’s what makes them an overall great person!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m most definitely always looking for people to collaborate with people that have the same like minded and work ethic as me. I’m looking for people with a great heart and winning attitude. Everything plays a part when you have someone with a positive attitude even in the midst of adversaries.
