V, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

My name is Vasisht Ramasubramanian. Over the years, it’s been shortened to Vash, Vinny, Chef V, and now The Flavorsmith — each version a small negotiation with a world that didn’t always have room for who I was.
For me, imposter syndrome has always been tied to identity. As an immigrant from India building a life in the U.S., I faced challenges at every turn — visa struggles, workplace politics, personal disappointments. Even as I started a family and eventually launched my own business, I often felt like I hadn’t truly “arrived.”
What helped me overcome it was reframing what being positive means. It’s not about everything being perfect — it’s about trusting that things will get better.
Losing my sense of taste and smell to COVID became an unexpected turning point. It forced me to step back from a high-pressure career and refocus on my health and family. In that space, I reconnected with what truly inspires me. Rediscovering honey through a local beekeeper reminded me of life’s simple joys and sparked the idea for my business, Alchemy of Food — now launching in Sprouts.
Through all of it, I’ve learned that imposter syndrome doesn’t disappear — it transforms into fuel. It reminds me that growth is messy and continuous, and that my achievements, no matter how small or overlooked, are worth acknowledging.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m the founder of Alchemy of Food by The Flavorsmith, where my love for flavor and culinary magic comes alive.
My journey began in India and brought me to the U.S. nearly 20 years ago. I built my career in high-end kitchens, navigating the pressures of fine dining while dealing with visa uncertainties, cultural barriers, and constantly proving myself. When I lost my sense of taste and smell to COVID, it forced me to reimagine everything. That loss became an unexpected gift — it stripped away the noise and refocused me on what mattered: creating flavors that bring people joy. Over time, as my senses returned, I approached flavor with fresh perspective and deeper appreciation.
Alchemy of Food transforms clean, thoughtfully sourced ingredients into sauces that elevate everyday meals. From Calabrian Hot Honey to Chipotle Maple BBQ, each flavor blends global inspiration with culinary magic for home kitchens. Every recipe reflects my belief that food should be both accessible and extraordinary — that a simple drizzle can transform a weeknight dinner into something special.
We’re launching in Sprouts stores nationwide in January 2026, and it’s surreal to see people connect with flavors born from my journey. At its heart, this work is about creating joy, sparking curiosity, and showing that food is both art and alchemy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are resilience, curiosity, and creativity.

Resilience helped me navigate being an immigrant, overcoming setbacks in my career, personal life, and even health challenges like losing my sense of taste and smell during COVID. It taught me that persistence, even in the face of disappointment, is essential.

Curiosity pushed me to explore the world new cuisines, flavors, and ideas — it’s what led me to create my line of sauces, Alchemy of Food, and continue innovating.

Creativity allowed me to turn challenges into opportunities, like transforming honey from a local beekeeper into award-winning sauces that connect with people in a unique way.

My advice for anyone starting out: embrace challenges, experiment boldly, and cultivate curiosity. As ted lasso likes to say, ‘Be curious, not judgmental’ — it’s curiosity that opens doors, fuels growth, and transforms setbacks into breakthroughs.

How would you describe your ideal client?

Our ideal client values flavor, quality, and the story behind what they eat. They’re adventurous in the kitchen — curious about global flavors and committed to ingredients that are thoughtfully sourced and clean. They love turning everyday meals into experiences, whether cooking for family, hosting friends, or experimenting with something new.
They appreciate creativity, authenticity, and the small moments of magic that food can bring. They’re open-minded, eager to discover new flavors, and excited to support a brand built on culinary craftsmanship and passion.
Simply put: they’re people who believe that what you eat matters — and that every meal is an opportunity for a little magic.
