Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vago Galindo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vago, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Well, I had a great support system during my development. It’s amazing what a little encouragement can do!
Building confidence and self-esteem is a unique journey for each individual, setting realistic goals is very important as well as learning how to embrace failure as a learning opportunity.
I pay attention to my inner dialogue and challenge negative or self-critical thoughts and I surround yourself with positive influences as well as spending time with people who uplift and support me.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Well, I’m a 2x Latin Grammy and 1x Grammy Award producer, mixer and engineer, graduated from Berklee College of Music and is currently based in Los Angeles.
I was born in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, I grew up listening to a wide variety of music, ranging from pop to progressive rock to regional Mexican music, cultivating my skills as a sonic chameleon and musical connoisseur.
What I love the most is that I can create a reaction from an audience through my sonics.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, I’d say three key qualities that played a significant role are adaptability, a thirst for knowledge, and a good sense of humor.
For those early in their journey, my advice would be:
Embrace curiosity: Don’t be afraid to explore new topics and ideas. Curiosity fuels learning and innovation.
Don’t fear failure: Mistakes are part of the learning process. Instead of seeing them as setbacks, view them as opportunities to grow and improve.
It’s not just about reaching the destination but enjoying the journey of growth and discovery.
We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I believe there’s value in both approaches, but finding a balance is key. Going all in on your strengths can lead to exceptional expertise and success in a particular area. However, being well-rounded has its advantages too it can make you adaptable, versatile, and better equipped to handle a variety of situations.
An example would be: imagine a musician who excels at playing the guitar but decides to learn a bit of piano and vocals. While the guitar might be their main strength, the additional skills could open up new creative possibilities and collaborations. They might discover unique ways to blend their strengths with other talents, creating something truly extraordinary.
On the other hand, if they focused solely on guitar and neglected other aspects, they might miss out on opportunities to diversify their music and connect with a broader audience.
It’s about finding a harmony between honing your strengths and developing a well-rounded skill set. Identify your core strengths and passions, but don’t shy away from exploring other areas that interest you. You never know when a seemingly unrelated skill might enhance your main strengths or lead to unexpected opportunities.
In the end, it’s the combination of strengths and versatility that often propels individuals to new heights. So, embrace your strengths, but don’t be afraid to dabble in the unknown it might just be the missing note in your symphony of skills.
