Meet Valentina Martelli

We were lucky to catch up with Valentina Martelli recently and have shared our conversation below.

Valentina, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Work Ethic. We hear so much about it but do we really know what it is? Sometimes we lack it and don’t even know why. Sometimes it takes over our life. To me, it means being able to devote yourself to a job or a task and staying focused without letting the outside interfere. Many people don’t even realize certain things in their lives are distractions but we are surrounded by them other people simply never came across the real meaning. To me, it was a life lesson I learn from both my parents since going to school.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I believe life is a little bit of everything and this is why I have always been intrigued by new challenges whether it is a new assignment as a journalist or starting a new career path following my intuition. I’m not saying it is always easy but that’s my passion.

I worked as a journalist for over two decades. I went from sports reporting to war correspondence, and entertainment news once I moved to LA. After living in LA for a while, I realized I needed to grab the bull by the horns and forge my career. For various reasons, the journalism path in LA wasn’t viable anymore — nor was the business path. At the same time, the media industry was changing. Streamers and on-demand platforms were exploding, and simultaneously, the international production landscape was changing. I saw an opportunity to expose Hollyoowd to a broader range of global content and I started my venture.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Intuition I would say it’s my first one. You need to pay attention to what is happening around you even in areas that might not be your expertise and then listen to your guts. Most of the time in life, work and love they will help you take the right decision. Perseverance would be the second and I don’t think it’s a word or a skill that needs an explanation.
Kindness is the last one because you need to be kind to others always but also to yourself. Allow you to forgive yourself.
Noone is infallible.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
