Meet Valentina Martelli

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Valentina Martelli a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Valentina, thank you so much for making time for us today. We can’t wait to dive into your story and the lessons you’ve learned along the way, but maybe we can start with something foundational to your success. How have you gone about developing your ability to communicate effectively?
Communication is an area where I believe I do…well. Whether in my personal or professional life, the ability to communicate effectively is paramount. It involves expressing your feelings, articulating your projects, sharing your ambitions and fears, conveying empathy and strength, as well as presenting ideas and concepts – essentially, everything. However, it requires courage because it opens you up to both supporters and critics. Some individuals possess a natural inclination for it, while others may need to cultivate this skill. I consider myself fortunate to have received a blend of both worlds

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At present, my focus and time are primarily dedicated to two business projects, conceived from a combination of intuition and a personal drive to embark on new ventures. While I occasionally reflect on the path not taken in pursuing a straightforward career in journalism (to which I dedicated 20 years of my time), I am inclined towards challenges and taking the road less traveled. This is precisely why I established ITTV International Forum and TechInEntertainment, organizing events centered around the international TV and movie industry. These endeavors also allow me to continually refine my skills as a public speaker. On that note I am launching at the end of February, a new unique podcast  with interviews over the phone, squeezing in all the exciting details in a brief chat. To top it off, each episode concludes with a cliffhanger question from the current guest to the next caller, making for a thrilling ride of entertainment tech-tastic fun!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Goal, discipline, and persistence form the backbone of any endeavor, complemented by a touch of instinct and keen observation.

Goal: Clearly defining your destination serves as your self-motivator.
Discipline: The bedrock of achievement, requiring dedication even when it’s inconvenient.
Persistence: Expect rejections, but let them be stepping stones, not obstacles.
Instinct and Observation: Choose areas aligned with your strengths and interests, and stay attuned to your surroundings through attentive observation.
And, of course, remember to periodically give yourself a break for rejuvenation.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents imparted invaluable lessons that I carry with me every day. They emphasized the virtues of hard work, humility, kindness, respect, and the importance of presenting oneself well. In today’s complex society, staying true to these values can be challenging, but I make a conscious effort to uphold them in all aspects of my life.

I am fortunate to have had unwavering support from my father in my professional endeavors. His encouragement has been a driving force behind my pursuits. Equally, my mother’s acknowledgment of my achievements has been a source of inspiration and motivation.
