Meet Valeria Zunzun

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Valeria Zunzun. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Valeria , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
Despite challenges and falls, something I love about myself is that I always manage to find the strength to get up again and fight for my own sake. I’m not saying I’ve been falling with a smile or that sad episodes of my life haven’t marked me forever… but somehow, I always get up and fight for the next goal, the next chapter. Believing it’s possible all over again. I come from a line of strong women who didn’t get it all easy… but kept fighting for that sunshine, for that laugh, for that sunny Sunday.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a seasoned multilingual and multicultural casting director, voice producer and voice director (animation, dubbing, commercials and voice overs). I created my own production company, Zunzun Entertainment, and I’ve collaborated with many studios and independent clients -in town and internationally. Zunzun Entertainment is a boutique studio that focuses on high quality, with a direct collaboration between production and post production creatives (no middle men = still reasonable prices with a higher quality).
We produce mostly in US English, Spanish and French – my three languages.

Authenticity is very important to me. When casting, I always privilege authentic accents and native languages (languages actors have spoken since birth or childhood). Gibberish can lose your audience in a second…
This is why I decided to create a brand for my casting branch I called NALAH Casting: Native Authentic Languages Actors of Hollywood (and yes, that includes US English!).

Currently, I am also developing animation (casting insights and auditioning, creating character voices) and dubbing workshops.
I am also launching my voice demos production services: high quality, fully customized and unique demos for animation and video games.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the three most important qualities that were impactful in my journey are PASSION, PERSISTENCE and CONSISTENCY.

Passion for what I do, for life, for my relationships… Without passion, it’s hard to maintain focus- and to enjoy the journey. So, choose wisely what you do, who you’re with, and what you decide to dedicate your career to. And if, at some point, you don’t feel the passion anymore, have the courage to change course. Life is short! 🙂

Persistence, because there are always bumps in the road… and without it, it’s very easy to get discouraged. Persistence is fueled by your passion…

Consistency is also important, to maintain the same quality in work and relationships, while keeping your word with others and yourself.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I love to collaborate with like-minded professionals, who believe in quality, authenticity and share the same passion for what they do! I am always open to new collaborations.
