Meet Valerie Delgado

We recently connected with Valerie Delgado and have shared our conversation below.

Valerie , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

I’ve learned to never give up! Be sure to always be who God created you to be we are all different, and can learn and grow from each other. Work hard, and never give up!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I love the quote: There is no elevator to success you have to take the stairs! It’s so true!!

I’d say the top three would be

Being consistent
Be sure to have a work life balance

Always have gratitude and do the best you can with what you have where you are at!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Being an owner can be very overwhelming at times, but learning to delegate and hire people that specialize in areas you don’t is ok! We don’t have to wear all the hats sometimes trying to do everything yourself will burn you out. Be sure to take self care time have a work life balance.
