Meet Valorie Hubbard

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Valorie Hubbard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Valorie, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

I believe I always persist because of the vision that is in front of me. Keep it clear and direct and it will yes attract nay sayers and haters, but that always happens when you get successful. But most importantly if I know exactly what I want and what I believe that is what keeps me persistant. COUL

So my nay sayers and haters say there are systems and rules in place and this is the way the acting business is done.
However I see people breaking rules everyday and that is how they get successful in their acting career. They stick out from the crowd and ask for what they want and certaintly don’t follow any rules(except human decency) RULES are MEANT to be BROKEN

I firmly believe if I can change enough actors and by change I mean TEACH THEM TO THINK IN A BUSINESS MINDED WAY. that I will in turn change the business itself. Actors have an opportunity to take charge for the first time ever in this business.
So that is how I stay persistant —-ALSO I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY hurt by Haters on link PS

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Below is my bio. In the last 2 years I have completely restructured my business. Like so many Americans I got hit hard with inflation and Covid and then with the Actors Strike, not to mention then entire changing of our business in so many ways.
We have become global actors and so much has left the USA. I am focused on helping actors understand the new reality, how to make money as an actor and how to stop listening to the nay sayers and their own imposter syndrom brain!! I am focused on keeping my life organized and joyful. I have moved my company to be more group orientated because I can speak to a bigger audience. my community constantly blows my mind with their successes and I am so inspired by them. I have always been an actor and I love that my community is the best of them.
I spend a lot of time with my husband who is my best friend and our amazing dog Gracie. We have been fortunate enough to travel a lot but have way more on our bucket list so we are actively on that!!

Valorie Hubbard owns the company, Actor’s Fast Track, where she consults with working actors about their career paths. Having navigated her own career, she knows the pitfalls and successes of the path and how to avoid the one and create the other. She gives actors the tools they need to get recognized.
In her newest book, RULE BREAKERS: Changing the Way Actors Do Business, she shows professional actors how to create and operate their acting career as a successful business – and how to move from being “stuck” into the limelight.
Credits include roles on Castle, Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D; How I Met Your Mother; Glee; American Horror Story; Workaholics; True Blood; and pretty much every Disney show plus tons of important theater and commercials, and video games
Valorie lives in Irvington New Jersey with her husband Chef Gill Boyd and dog Gracie

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Self Care—Many times i have had to pick myself up either lose 40 pounds, get in shape, get out of depression, get motivated that along the way I created self care routines. THAT IS SO IMPORTANT. Time in the morning to BREATH, Meditation, Therapy, Excersise, emotional retreats, coaching, pedicures, massages etc.

2. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND LEARN ABOUT MONEY!!!!!!! I learned this the hard way thru debt, bankruptcy etc.

3. PLAY, JOY have FUN enjoy the ride, stop complainging go after what you want with as much joy as possible!!
