Meet Vanessa Branda

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vanessa Branda. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Vanessa, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I’m not sure if anyone ever gets over imposter syndrome. Trying anything new is scary, but finding out you’re pretty good at whatever it is you are trying to do is almost just as scary! I think you get over it by continuing in whatever pursuit you’re chasing. You get over it by failing at the task and learning. If you’ve got imposter syndrome, I believe it means you’re brave enough to try something!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I create news and political content! In 2020 I started doing activism online, and 4 years later I’m working with Really American Media bringing the daily news with a dash of spice to their 200k YouTube subscribers.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Content creation is an ever changing world, so my first piece of advice is you have to be adaptable. There isn’t anyone to teach you how to do anything so a lot of it is trial and error. Which brings me to my second piece of advice, research! Read books, watch videos, and fail, a lot! And lastly, be yourself. I think a lot of people try to be something or someone they aren’t to be popular on the internet. This is false, just be yourself, the world needs more of that and your audience will find You.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am always looking to connect and collab! Calling all Los Angeles journalists, activists, and anyone involved in politics! Let’s create some good trouble and force more change!
