We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vanessa Cordova a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Vanessa, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from both of my parents. They are true examples of hard workers.
My dad at one point had multiple jobs and would take care of my sisters and I during the weekends, while my mom worked as a bedside nurse during the weekends. My parents both were extremely present during our up bringing. They were at every competition or school event and my dad even coached us in our AYSO soccer days. They taught me that we all have the same hours in the day, what you decide to do with those hours is 100% in your control
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the visionary owner and founder of Dripp IV Therapy. With a robust background in nursing, spanning over 11 years, I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey in 2021 amidst the pandemic. I continue to aim in revolutionizing healthcare by offering simple hydration and vitamin therapy in the comfort of homes, eliminating the need for long ER waits or hospital visits.
IV therapy is a way to stay on top of your health and wellness by simple delivery of medical grade vitamins directly into the blood stream &/or muscle.
Dripp has flourished, now boasting three locations staffed by an exceptional team of highly skilled Nurses.
My motivation for starting Dripp was deeply personal—I wanted to be more present for my two younger children, ensuring that I could be there whenever they needed me. This family-centric vision continues to drive me every day.
Now with 3 children, a supportive partner and family, my job here still isn’t finished. I plan to provide an outreach of opportunities, all affordable, to not only clients but to nursing students, business startups and more!
Despite facing numerous personal obstacles, I find strength and solace in my work with Dripp. Of course, my unwavering dedication and the support from the incredible staff have been pivotal in my journey.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Networking is such a huge benefit going into entrepreneurship. No matter how many years you’ve been in business, never stop networking! We can all learn from each other! I have gained the most knowledge and insight from connections within the community
11 years of nursing experience has helped me tremendously in the last years of Business. Not only with this clinical insight but from an employees perspective. My goal with the Dripp staff is to give them a break from the stressful nursing. Yes i said it, nursing can be stressful! I’ll speak for myself, I wanted to go into nursing to help people, to make an impact on their lives and for them to always leave a little better than when they entered. I wanted to feel alive again in nursing and I believe this company allows this to be a reminder to my nursing staff that you can reignite that reminder of why they became a nurse without losing sight or being caught up in the burnout
Organization is always a quality that I have excelled in. I think it’s one of my strengths and a must in owning your own business. I’ve had to learn when to shut off work and take a break and still to this day I’m reminding myself to do so. Planning ahead and taking one task at a time has been a constant reminder for myself. I have also learned to set realistic goals for the day without overdoing myself and still managing time for my family and friends. There’s a happy medium to it all but it starts with accountability and organization!
My one piece of advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is to persevere through the challenging early years of business, keeping their vision in sight and never forgetting the reason they started.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me growing up, was always holding me accountable. They never let me give up on my commitments, constantly reminding me that I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. Their unwavering belief in me and insistence on perseverance shaped my confidence and drive.
