On a road trip with my Dad, we were making our way through the scenic routes of Canada, headed towards Toronto. After countless hours on the road, we agreed to stop at the next place we saw for a bite to eat. We eventually pulled up to a quaint roadside restaurant, only to be met with an array of luxurious cars like Lamborghinis and Porsches parked outside. Feeling quite out of place in our travel-worn attire, we were seated at a table near the swinging chef’s door. Each time the door swung open, the sound of a fish being scaled filled the air, blending with the rich aromas wafting from the kitchen.
Our meal began with a visit from the Sommelier, who expertly inquired about our dining preferences and suggested a perfect pairing of Cabernet Sauvignon with a Filet Mignon. It was the best combination I had ever tasted. As I savored the experience, I realized that the Sommelier’s role was more than just serving wine; it was about creating a memorable culinary journey. In that moment, I knew I had found my purpose. The passion and knowledge the Sommelier exhibited inspired me, and I decided then and there that I would pursue a career in this fascinating field.

These qualities have not only shaped my journey but also serve as the foundation upon which I built Coupe Champagne Bar. Tenacity fuels the drive to overcome challenges and persist in the face of adversity. It is the relentless pursuit of your goals, even when obstacles seem insurmountable. For me, this meant navigating the complexities of establishing a new business, from securing the right location to sourcing the best local products. Each step required unwavering determination and the belief that my vision would come to fruition.

From a young age, he instilled in me the belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. His confidence in my abilities was a constant source of motivation, driving me to pursue my goals with determination and resilience. One of the ways he incentivized my success was by rewarding me and my brothers with $100 for every A we earned on our report cards. This not only encouraged academic excellence but also taught us the value of hard work and perseverance.
My father’s guidance extended beyond academics. He consistently encouraged me to be honest and to educate myself, especially in areas of finance and personal growth. He often recommended books that expanded my understanding of these crucial topics, laying a strong foundation for my future endeavors. His practical support was equally impactful. When I decided to open Coupe Champagne Bar, he not only offered moral support but also played a hands-on role by building the bar himself.
